one thing, make sure that the menu point you‘ve selected shows as „active“ in the menu. Currently there is no way to see which page is open.
-
my experience is, digitalocean is nice to use - really great ui/ux but limited options and rather high costs - aws is nearly free unless you really start scaling - but it didn‘t sound like that‘s your use-case. So don‘t worry it probably won‘t cost you a fortune. But i‘d suggest running it for a month and then checking costs - no calculation is as accurate as acutal real-life experience.

commuting === death
-
that‘s pretty bad UX, isn‘t it?
-
There are several free ticketing softwares that are build for use in support. So why not try one of them. It‘s surly simpler to work with tickets than mail.
-
welcome to devrant ;)
to your questions, i‘m not a real fan of such site as mostly i like to do my own research and i‘m not sure if they really show you the best courses or if they just get paid to show certain results. -
walking or general sports won’t help you much by itself. If you don’t eat the right food, you won‘t see satisfying results. But if you combine both of them i‘m sure you will see results over time.
-
sucks, but compared to other devices i rarely have to do updates on my mac and they never take more than 30 minutes.
-
@xalys hahaha would be definitely a good start into the day ;)
-
@lucadev @Jilano @bohr Good idea guy‘s, thank you!
-
Well i tried both of them and DigitalOcean is a bit simpler to setup especially if you just need a simple prod environment. But AWS is also pretty good but just at least in my opinion a bit overkill for a simple prod/dev environment. But surely depends on the project size.
-
@EdoPhoenix well yeah than i would use it too, but if it‘s not a dependency anywhere i would not add it.
-
why not? it‘s also good from a security perspective.
-
why people still use jquery?
-
@icycrash Yeah that sounds realistic, but i would try to create a poc first and then evaluate if it‘s enough or not. And yeah we used a domain login.
-
@icycrash Might be a bit to many users for one server. Also depends on the work amount per user. But maybe using a automatically scaling system on AWS or something?
-
But your solution might work if there is a small amount of users, but i worked in a big company so that solution might be a bit overhead for you. As we had to make sure every user is able to login 24/7.
You could login where you wanted, as long as you got the right user/password it wasn’t depending on the device. -
I wasn‘t responsible for the server side part but as far as i know we used some VMWare server (don’t know the proper name but something with ESX) and then every client got there own VM in which they could login if required.
-
We had this solution in a company i worked, and yeah we only got problems with these. The concept is pretty cool but it just isn‘t comparable to a real computer so if you have the decision to change, i would recommend it to you.
-
Every app has bugs, especially as a solo dev without real QA, it‘s normal to have bugs. But to act like there non-existent is pretty embarrassing.
-
@RantSomeWhere oh damn, haven’t known about this till now. totally ridiculous, i mean yeah there are some criminals on there but you can‘t make it illegal just because of that. But i think this will be the future, government want to control every aspect of our lives. Fortunately, i live in switzerland.
-
@RantSomeWhere do they really think about that? Is there already something ongoing or just theories from some fucked up politicians?
-
probably the offical documentation, just go trough it and try to learn every concept step by step.
-
can someone explain that to me? i use node since some time and it seems pretty awesome.
-
if you don‘t think about the macbook pro then choose the xps. a MBA is way to expensive for what it is able to do, but if you really want a mac take the pro, i own one by myself and i love it. Not a single problem since i bought it.
-
i‘ve already taken some courses on there and some on pluralsight (a subscription based learning platform) and the majority of courses on udemy are way less qualitative than they you can find on pluralsight, don‘t get me wrong, there are still some good ones.
-
same here, now my holidays are finished and i literally did nothing productive, fells quite bad kinda wasted these days, at least in my feelings.
-
Currently doing the same just in switzerland. And i don‘t think someone who did a Berufsausbildung is less educated and has a disadvantage in any kind. Personally i think we have much more experience as we work part-time in a company, we know how it works on a practical site too and did not only try to understand the theorietical part of it. For me i.e i got a good understanding of how business works and how i have to establish myself in it. I finish my Ausbildung also in february 2020, and i have basically the same goal, just in the US and not japan but also to freelance as soon as i‘m done with my Ausbildung.
