Angular dosent work as well in Firefox somehow...
The navigation is choppy, observables are slow.
I think anything to do with rxjs dosent work as well.
Chrome works great even on cell phones.8 -

Confessions of a Programmer
#1
If a client is an unbearable asshole during the initial communication, I look for every excuse to pad on the hours for the estimate to get paid more. If a client goes above and beyond in their douchbaggery, I tack on an additional $40/hour.
#2
Sometimes I will present an elaborate solution to a client, but really I'm just reading off the features of a plugin or library I'm going to download or buy after the call. Not because I can't build it myself, but because I'd rather spend more time on other/my own projects.
#3
Clients assume because I know one language, I know them all. Rather than turning down the work, I take a crash course to work in that language, or outsource the work and clean it up afterwards, whichever is more practical at the time.
#4
I use cPanel on a dedicated to manage our client websites. I'm not paid enough to bother with setting up everything manually.
#5
Certain projects I build have a 3-day backdoor built into it. If the client doesn't pay upon completion, a unique hash triggered as a GET variable deletes a core file in my work, rendering the work useless. If it wasn't triggered by the 4th day, the file allowing me to trigger this backdoor is removed. This is only used for clients where the project must be launched on their servers, or if there has been a previous issue collecting payment.
#6
I slip in the initial contract that all preceeding phone calls will be monitored and recorded, and that they acknowledge the recordings are admissable in court. This has saved me from losing money twice now.
#7
I have never used an IDE. (I know, I know, it's really inefficient and dumb, but I'm just more comfortable with Sublime. Plus I often find myself mobile and without my computer, so I have to program from my phone.)
#8
Each day resembles a betting spectacle of which work will be late, which will be rushed out and which will never see the light of day.
#9
I have used "sick" and "family emergency" as an excuse to just sleep in far more than I can count.
#10
When a client from hell crosses over the line in their conduct (such as getting very nasty and personal, or sending threats), I anonymously report them to the BBB and on RipOffReport.21 -
My first rant so be kind ;)
All week have been waiting for a day off to finish a side project, and when that day finally comes, my daughter has a fever.
Will have to wait till next week.5 -
My teacher.
My 4th semester of college, I had a class about Software Engineering, the teacher started involving me in external projects, he actually taught me almost everything I know, now we work for the same company and he is my mentor and one of my dearest friends1 -
Windows Updates...
I know, this topic is as old as the human race, but still.
Yesterday Windows kept whining about updates. When I went to bed I allowed windows to finally do it's updates. Now I'm back from work and the machine isn't running anymore. I thought, OK, it won't annoy me this evening.
But I overlooked the one essential thing about windows updates.
IT WILL DO THE MAIN WORK WHEN IT BOOTS THE NEXT TIME!
When I explicitly tell you to do the updates, you will barely do anything but turning off! And the next time I'm trying to use you, you will do a shit ton of things and lock me out while doing so.
When it says that it'll update, shouldn't it install and reboot until it's done? Am I the one who's crazy?
Instead of "working" with the computer, I'm stuck with this shit.2 -
Hello, world!
So I'm in a bit of trouble at the moment.. I was hesitant in posting this, and even after you all came to BlueNutterFly's rescue, I'm still not sure what the response will be.
Basically, I'm in a very bad spot. I can't work, and I'm having to move between guest bedrooms of family members because I don't have a permanent residence. I'm struggling to afford my medications and internet (which is my only means of communication, as I don't have a phone. And is how I make what little money I do..) I'm also at risk of getting kicked out of my sister's because we don't get along, and having to move back in with my grandparents.. (I was thrown into so many anxiety attacks while I was there, one of which caused me to jump out of a moving car just to get AWAY from my grandmother.. Long story short, I CAN'T go back there..)
I started a Patreon page, where I hope to get enough donations to make due until I can get another source of stable income. You can also read more about my situation there, as well as what I will use the money for. I currently have no rewards set, so feel free to give me ideas:

You can also donate via PayPal if you don't want to subscribe to a monthly fee:

You can also share these links, which will also help out a lot!
Thank you for reading.
I'll remove this post if dfox asks me to.48 -
Friend sees me learning React js.
Friend: "Why are you always studying? Your exams are over and you already have a job."
Me: "Because I don't know it and it looks interesting?"
Friend: "What a waste of time..."
I try to upskill myself and friend gives me shit.
He's the type of guy that would watch a 5min YouTube video on a topic and suddenly become an expert in it.
I believe that a day without new knowledge is a waste of a day.
Dont know if that's normal or I'm just weird. But I still stand by it.24 -
Learning Philosophy.
It is the most important thing for anyone to do to.
Everyone has one either implicit or explicit.
Learning metaphysics, and then more specifically epistemology has greatly increased my ability to process new information and build better models of the world around me. -
Alarm Levels on my phone:
Level 1: 06:00 it's the right time to wake up, take a shower and breakfast.
Level 2: 07:00 ok it is the normal time to wake up..
Level 3: 07:30 you must wake up to go to work in time.
Level 4: 07:45 you're already late you lazy ass
Level 5: 08:00 you're already late.
Level 6: 09:00 just checking you're alive11 -
Today is a stark reminder of why i want to leave here. First we couldn't do anything because production was down which blocks dev login. Then support tells me I need to work harder because my bug count keeps going up. But what is in my bugs? Feature requests, global changes, and work that isn't mine. Gee thanks :( Why does support get to comment on my performance anyway by something as dumb as a bug count? Grrr.5

You know what I hate? When people don't listen to me.
You know what I love? When shit blows up in their faces because they didn't listen to me8 -
Just shaved my beard and immediately regretted it. I look like a snail now... And my Linux skills are gone...28

Trouble studying?
Family issues?
Debts?
Hate workplace?
Bad teacher?
Depression?
Laziness?
Forever alone?

You name it. All of us may not understand, sure. But there definitely will always be more than one person who will totally know what you are trying to say. Here at devrant only.
So whatever you are in, wherever you are and however you feel, just rant it out. 😄 And remember that we are one tap away from you.
For that devrant creators and most of all each and everyone of you have my eternal thank.72
