There's this guy that sits next to me in a class.

Guy: Hey, you're a hacker right?
Me: I'm a programmer.
Guy: Can you hack into my email account?
Me: Nope, I work in a different field of computer science.

In reality, I want to give him a piece of my mind.

I already know his email so I open up the login page and enter it. I click "forgot password", and it asks for his favorite teacher's name. Keep in mind that he made this account this year.

Me: So anyways, who's your favorite teacher?
Guy: *proceeds to give me favorite teacher's name*
Me: 🤦‍♂️

I change his password and log into his account. After that, I show him and tell him about how he should keep his account secure.

He left class with a priceless look on his face.

It was between me and another guy.

I fucking won!

Recruiter emailed me later this day. (had my first job interview today for a Linux Support Engineer position).

He said he thinks he might have some good news. I am nervous. Fingers crossed 😰

Hopefully the last part of my job hunting for now! Had a good call with the boss and heard from the recruiter that I'm the preferred candidate because we had (the boss and I) a real 'click'.

It's now between me and one other person.

Man I am nervous! Will hear it today or tomorrow!

Years ago we deployed this system with a SQL DB on a separate windows server.
Every now and then we had error messages saying that the system could not connect to the db. It was going on for about 5 minutes or so and then the db was up again.
We built a bunch of fallback logic to handle it gracefully.
Then one day one of the guys was in the "server room". It was not a real server room but like a dedicated office in another building.
He saw how the cleaning lady came in, unplugged the server's cable from the wall socket and plugged in the vacuum cleaner...

The moment an other team couldn't deliver for a deadline. CEO came to me, gave me 50 bucks told me to get a pizza and some hash and just work the night and deliver the damn app. So I did. Got a week holiday for free in return. One of the best guys I worked for.

From my devRant experience so far I feel like there are a lot PHP enthusiasts around here but I'd really like to get a more objective impression. I hope, I put a satisfying collection of options together in the poll, I have linked above.

So my company is now giving us flexibile work hours, but we still gotta do 9 hours a day, of which 1 can be outside the office. Wouldn't it be easier to just make it an 8 hour-day and be done with it?
