Sometime ago I had to debug a override to a Joomla component made by the trainne.

So the component work just fine on development but not in production. I made the transition myself so I knew the code was the same.

This is my first rant, quite long, hope you like it.

So I thought something went wrong in the database, I searched and didn't find a thing.

Then I decided to check the code... hold yourself now

The component had to support internalization ..so instead of using the proper function to see what the current language is, he made a if with the URL hard coded..

Hey, I got this new web project, but to be honest I haven’t coded much web in a few years and I’ve heard the landscape changed a bit. You are the most up-to date web dev around here right?

-The actual term is Front End engineer, but yeah, I’m the right guy. I do web in 2016. Visualisations, music players, flying drones that play football, you name it. I just came back from JsConf and ReactConf, so I know the latest technologies to create web apps.

Cool. I need to create a page that displays the latest activity from the users, so I just need to get the data from the REST endpoint and display it in some sort of filterable table, and update it if anything changes in the server. I was thinking maybe using jQuery to fetch and display the data?

Programmers of today are like the monks of the middle ages. We use a language that people don't understand, we spend all our time sitting in a room reading, and people constantly ask us for advice but never really listens to the answer.

Life is good when you can't resist to continue doing work at home in the weekend, and are looking forward to when it's monday!
