Senior developer fixing an issue

Hello, I'm new here and I was wondering if there were other students on here. I'm fine with talking to anyone but I can't help but feel too intimidated to talk to experienced professionals.

What I can figure out:
You give me a large application with multiple projects/classes/files/functions that is tens of thousands of lines long, I can debug it. I can picture the multi-dimensional data structures, objects that contain lists of other objects, all in my I head.

What I can't figure out:
Should I or should I not look at the person sitting at their desk when I walk back to my desk from the bathroom.

In a product roadmap meet today, one of the developers explained the update of last week. He talked for at least 15 mins.
After that the sales lead looked at me, expecting me to explain (or basically dumb it down for her)
