Me to myself: "Shit, me 1 year ago was a fucking moron, I'm screwed."
-
@Root Heh, yeah, some days I wish it was just insurance 😂😂
-
@Root actually, yes
-
Man... Why'd you...😤
-
Man, I don’t get it. Sure, at the end of it’s life IE was a dumpster fire that, at best, was only a MINOR pain in the ass to support. But that’s only if you’re exceedingly lucky. Most of the time hearing “Support for IExx required “ brought tears to my eyes.
HOWEVER to deny that IE was at one point the forerunner for web technology, helping advance the web past its humble static-hypertext beginnings is... kinda sad. I never experienced it myself, but there’s always been a minor respect held for what is ultimately the granddaddy of the modern web. I dunno, maybe I’m just crazy, but hearing that IE is FINALLY being given the death knell is... humbling in a way. We’re finally able to let old, legacy tech die, paving the way for a new era. I dunno, it’s still a death all the same. I feel SOME respect is due, but maybe that’ll come in time. -
Sounds rough, I remember when covid first hit and everything was completely locked down... I almost lost my mind 😅 Luckily my office opened up again, so I'm lucky in that regard. Honestly, when I was going through that time, I wish I had brought up how I felt to my team. I've always maintained a very strict division of business and personal issues, but we're all human, it's rarely ever so black and white. If they're not actually robots, they'll understand where you're coming from.
-
@erroronline1 I'd argue it's even better. Trust me, it doesn't paint Zuck and Co. In the... Best possible light. That's not to say it's necessarily unfair, but it's definitely been criticised for being relatively inaccurate.
-
@IntrusionCM Heh, sounds like somebody schooled this guy on the Single Responsibility Principle 🙄😂
-
@IntrusionCM 😂😂 You're not wrong at all unfortunately. It's funny that you mention transactions, because it's absolutely been asked up more than once (both by my team members and the client) if we can implement an ACTUAL transaction-esque system to our... System. Luckily we've been too swamped with other stuff to give it much attention...
It's a stupid (but stupidly lucrative) project ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -
@IntrusionCM Oh my friend, you don't know the half of it o.O Wr have to warn new devs when looking at it that this project is.... Well "A Beast" is putting it lightly
-
@SortOfTested 🙄 You're telling me! SharePoint is good for what SharePoint has always been good for; Documents. Other than that, if you're trying to do something in SharePoint that doesn't involve documents, you probably want to use something else 😂
-
@deadlyRants With mind boggling effects like those? You're not kidding
-
Do I smell a Bojack Horseman reference?
-
@M1sf3t Don't get me wrong, drinking and coding is my favorite weekend pass-time. Realistically my only weekend pass-time 😂 but at the same time, sometimes I just get far too frustrated with a project at work that I need a beer or two after hours to wind down. It always helps me solve the problem in the long run Though.
-
@M1sf3t 😂😂 You're telling me you've never had a day where the option to continue working on a frustrating problem or go have a beer hasn't come up?
-
@theKarlisK Of course, I respect the joke. It just makes my spine tingle 😂😂
-
@S-Homles-MD @theKarlisK I've been summoned! Pronouncing GUI as "Gooey" is a sin 😂😂
-
@Zaphod65 She's really into art. She's going to an art school, has innumerable books on art, art theory, and art history.
A couple months back I made her something in Photoshop. It wasn't the best looking but she did love it. I know that anything I put the time and effort into creating she'll probably appreciate, but I just figure that if I'm going to put in the effort, it might as well be *good*. -
I used to do it in intervals of 5:
Project-20
Project-25
Project-30
Project-35
Etc. -
@suda-amir ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I've never heard of it before. I was curious if anyone had any experience with it.
-
@iAmNaN I can see it. Especially with MS slowly becoming more accepting of the open source community.
-
@loserboi I try to do as much as I can over text, just in case someone tries to scam me. But I've had a few meetups and phone calls. No video calls, yet, but I am new. I've never been one for social situations myself, but it's important to remember that you're the expert here, not them. They came to you for a reason.
-
@BadReg Seriously just pop an ad up there. You may not get too many clients (which is why I'm still looking for work LOL) but it's always good to have some extra money, and it's good for experience/portfolio building!
-
@loserboi really all I did was just post an ad on a classifieds site and let them come to me. Just be straight and honest with them and keep communication open and it should be pretty simple. What I've found is that rarely do clients actually know what they want, so I've been pretty lucky in that I've basically had free reign when it comes to my work.
-
@dSkardik we need to go deeper
-
@Yeah69 yes... This was an unprecedented reaction LOL
Also a primary Windows user by the way. -
@altermind that's the plan. I was just surprised by how inept the website was.
-
@altermind I should clarify, I clicked the 'forgot password' button. No reset or anything, they just sent me my password in an email.
-
Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's bad to "gooey" I just personally don't like the sound of it.
-
Hey! If you aren't involved in at least one DnD campaign then you aren't a real dev!!!
