Is there a real need for metaverse? Would you really want to do grocery with a visor and try picking up a brocolli and reorient your visuospatial acuity just to lift a beer? I would rather do either of the following:
- click beer picture, click checkout
- "Alexa, send me a beer"
- sudo sendme -n 1 beer -

@Awlex take for example Zoom. Zoom can't do screenshare on Wayland. Maybe there's similarity with the issues they are having with Wayland.

Java is problematic already. Combine that with Android development and you get nothing but frustration. By the time you learn the trick, you will realise that 75% of android apps are done with no-code app builders or something similar where you don't need much Java at all.

@Hazarth cool that in almost all major use cases, Python is never a first-class, top of mind candidate. Analytics, ML, data mining? It all goes down to the libraries available to a programming language, not the language itself. Then there's Julia. So one thing to learn about coding is don't deify Python.

People get used to avoiding antivirus because of McAfee. Any solution to viruses, whether flu, hepatitis, or COVID, might install a Yahoo toolbar and McAfee.

I think better on remote work. If someone ask you to fix things, you don't hassle yourself to respond immediately, then come up with answers that are better. Usually at about 1-2mins after you scan and organize your thoughts. You can't do that in the office, like lagging and walking back and forth to reconstruct the solutions you have in mind while your manager usually wants answers on the spot, as if we are Alexas.
