@Qchmqs I hear you. I'm just referring to what I've seen in codebases I've inherited.
-
@Godisalie lol nah I use a mac or a Linux running machine for development. I think the last time I used windows was when I use to run xamp, wamp and etc when starting out 🙈
-
Thanks guys. I'm the new guy in the team. They kind of just looked at me like I'm a "spoiled millennial" - but I feel I was hired for a reason and can't just sit back and watch productivity burn. Will definitely bring it up again in the retro.

@LucaScorpion point. I feel like deleting my rant now

I don't even remember my stackoverflow username

@tmux lol isn't that a designer?
-
There's nothing wrong with WordPress. It's how you use it that counts.
P.s what is a front end developer that can't code? How would that classify as a developer? 😂 @tmux -
Tell me about it. Some leads/seniors are so good that they actually suck because they can't communicate with people not on their level. I appreciate the ones that are willing to lend a helping hand.

Wow thanks for all the comments guys, was really interesting getting all the different point of views and opinions. For me personally I'm still undecided. Responsibilities sometimes just takes precedence.
-
I understand where both of you are coming from.
But in this instance I'll say take the project your dad has for you, you have nothing to lose, and I'm sure you will be able to deliver on the project when the time comes. Like someone mentioned above - you can use WordPress for this project to!
My first freelance project started exactly like this, it was for a project way out of my league at the time, but I did it. I struggled my ass off but at the end the client loved it, and the rest is history. -
@localdam haha I saw that article too 😂
-
@zzguy that's cool, for me it sucks cause I feel so demotivated to just now start learning a dying framework, but hey there's always after hours for the "cutting edge" 💪🏻
-
@zzguy haha what's your situation looking like?
-
@champion01 in the state of JavaScript today - everything is old school. For now Ill use whatever framework I need to, and use my spare time to upskill vanilla JavaScript, es6, and programming fundamentals that we frontend developers need to master.
-
The opposite for me

@ardinent 😂😂😂. Now I have an opportunity to continue my rant! Did my best to sort out it out in advance, Telkom says don't worry just let your ISP know in advance (Afrihost), what does Afrihost do? "Don't worry just contact Telkom with a bunch of documents and they'll have you sorted in a couple of days! "
Worst part is I have a bunch of mobile data from telkom and Vodacom but BOOM no signal. The struggle is real down here. -
@Jumpshot44 if I had a Starbucks in my bedroom!
-
@dfox tell me about it. I've literally sat next to someone that just posted, and it won't appear on my feed.
Can't wait to see what you guys come up with, only good things to come 👌🏼 -
