DevOps fucks up. I search and send them docs for reference, to resolve issue. DevOps brushes it off, fucks up even more. Eventually comes back to docs, reads it and fixes it.
Lost 4 good hours, for which I already had productive plans. DevOps is putting the responsibility of checking whether they're setting it up correctly or not, on me, a dev. I hate this! -
Company: We want to attract lots of new talent.
Employee: First, try to retain your existing talent. Please treat them with respect and give them every now and then challenges they deserve.
Please ask the attrition rate of every company you interview with.5 -
If you were through a long phase (year or two) of zero to minimal learning and lots of procrastination, how did you finally break it?
I used to be in a Company with really less work load and now I procrastinate a really lot, despite having work to do.1 -
I literally start coughing/sneezing as soon as I enter the Office. Had the same issue with the previous Office as well.
With offices paying no attention to hygiene, another reason to prefer remote roles? -
But, it's a simple reason. Why would you leave the company for such a simple reason?
Because, that's very telling of the Company's attitude, when you know it's a simple reason and still refuse to fix it. -
People always brag to me about how they put up with bad working environments. I really have low tolerance and low respect for bosses who are less transparent and egotistic (about their opinion). It's so damn difficult to find good leaders. Sometimes, I get a feeling that maybe it's me who is overthinking and should probably be more patient.2

With all of them going gaga about Dark Mode everywhere, is there anyone else at all who thinks light mode is so much more easy on the eyes during the day alone at least?34

A senior dev I’ve interacted with only on Twitter, whom I looked up to, who has blog, newsletter, buzzword tweets and all that jingles.
Met them IRL today.
Dayum 😷
They talk about all the things they know about, on the internet. But, shocked to see how many simple things they didn’t know.3 -
Lead messed up the Git workflow (New repo), ask me to fix it. And when I said that we better do it from first properly, asked me if I even know git 🙄 Feel insulted.3

Joined a new workplace. Lead wants me to research on the available list of certain frameworks.
But they have already built a couple of services using certain frameworks and they don't seem to be having any issues with them.
I asked why look for new ones when you already have stuff that work for you and they're like "It's working - is not a reason to not look for new ones".
I mean WTF? Isn't "Don't try to fix things that are not broken" literally the point?4 -
New to devRant!
Dayum, how did I not know that there's a dedicated place to rant? Y'all be careful, because there's so much I want to rant about every single day.
