Yeah, the HOTP RFC, on which TOTP is based as well actually allows for a variable length of the token. 6 is just recommended as the minimal value, I assume that's why it is used everywhere.

I see that @netikras has mastered the art of buzzword-driven argumentation.

Until a month ago I had similar speeds. But after I decided to upgrade my connection I now have 10 MB/s...

@FuckJava https://play.google.com/store/apps/...
No excuses 😂 -
I think this is the first time I saw the words "proudly" and "WordPress" in one sentence... it kind of hurts to look at...
-
@hyperlisk I had to learn it when I stared my PhD since almost all our instruments are controlled with it. And as someone who knew actuall programming languages before learning LabView I can confirm that it is indeed very wrong.
-
Almost gave a -- for the mention of LabView... I hate that shit so much...

"That Masters student you were supervising, what do you think about keeping him as a new PhD?"
"I don't think that's a good idea, he has no real understanding of the subject and is horrible at practical tasks."
"OK, I hear you"
Proceeds to ask two of my fellow PhD students and both give him a similar answer.
Two weeks later: "Meet your new fellow PhD student!"
*triple facepalm* -
Usually when I set up a new system which doesn't have vim preinstalled I end up with tons of ":wq" in lots of configuration files... fuck nano...
-
@gronostaj There is this Python script: https://github.com/puddly/...
But it requires a rooted phone to get the data, since Google Authenticator doesn't allow exports. -
Oh and the second thing I'm pretty proud of is my terminal emulator: https://github.com/flocke/sterm
It's just a minimal terminal for tiling WMs without any frills. Basically it's a wrapper that reads options from an INI file and aplies them to an instance of VTE. No context menu or complex functions, just a simple terminal. -
@sagar13 Exactly. We have an internal chat in our group, when I leave I might just write a small bot that listens on my old account and returns every message it gets as a lmgtfy link...

When I started working on my PhD everyone was using stock Ubuntu there. But since nobody except me knew anything about Linux I quickly installed xubuntu on all PCs and now everybody is happy.
I thought about using something like Arch Linux or Gentoo... but I like my cooworkers to much to fuck with them like that 😅 -
@IntrusionCM Arch is something special: it has become a meme (at least on devRant).
-
I haven't used sudo in a while so I'm not sure but can't your admin block the "shutdown" command from being executed via sudo?
-
Damn, now I have to redo all graphs for my PhD thesis again...
-
@linuxxx Motorola phones are actually pretty affordable. And at least my Moto G5 Plus has an awesome dev community with a lot of custom ROMs.
-
@thevariableman The way you said it it sounds like a STD... which is kind of appropriate.
-
Hey, that's exactly my reaction every time I manage to do something with electronics...
-
It's been a surprisigly long time since a 'pacman -Syu' fucked something up on one of my machines.
I fear something big is comming in the future 😅 -
I usually do it the wrong way around on the first try and get the 'File exists' error, every time...
If you think about it for more than 1s it is pretty obvious (same behaviour as CP and mv, src first then dest)... but who likes thinking... -

Appart from the fact that systemd itself is a complete pain in the ass I have been running 240 for a while now and didn't notice such problems.
-
Just noticed you were compiling for potter... I'm currently running ArrowOS on mine, but if you ever need a tester once your ROM is finished just hit me up 😅
-
++ for the chillies. I am growing my own as well but not yet from seeds. I got 3 small plants last year which yielded a fuckton of chillies, still have some frozen and some dried.

@PythonTryHard andOTP

@PythonTryHard It's on Google Play and F-Droid 😉

Yeah, Etcher has kind of an insane size. It was the recommended tool when I wanted to flash my RockPro64 but as soon as I saw the size I canceled the download and just used dd.

Arch Linux + Windows 10 Education dual boot on my desktop
Arch Linux on my netbook
Arch Linux ARM with Kodi on a Raspberry Pi 3 as media center
Debian 9 with OpenMediaVault on a RockPro64 as NAS
