I just went back to Old School Runescape and I played it 7pm - 2am last night so I guess that's my new distraction
-
It's been around 24 hours since I posted https://www.devrant.io/rants/526991..
AND IM STILL FUCKING WAITING
And what's more he wants to start testing tomorrow morning and I'm an hour from going home and I still have to take the code he writes and attach it to mine and just ahh!!
On the bright side I've caught up on a lot of YouTube videos I've missed2 -
Don't you just love it when you're waiting on a team member in a different country to push code that you NEED to be able to finish your job, but you know they've already gone home for the night and you're stuck reading the same three doc pages for your entire day at work? Because I sure do

Discontinuing my raspberry pi as a gitlab server (I have sorted a new one for myself) and I'm trying to figure out what to do next with it.
I've been toying with the idea of making a smart mirror since my room doesn't have a mirror anyway, does anyone have any other ideas? :)3 -
For our first OOP module in Python, we had a lecturer who's main language was Java. His slides were taken from a Java book with the code turned to Python, and he was learning the things he was teaching us the day before he taught us.
He would also code up his examples for the first time in class, without having practiced them beforehand. This led to him taking up the latter half of class looking confused at the code he wrote and trying to fix it, leaving us learn nothing. One time, when he was already 10 minutes over time, he said "if i had 5 more minutes, i could have fixed this" even though we all could see that wasn't going to happen... -
The feeling of relief when you fix the one problem that's been bothering you for hours on end, makes you feel amazing

javac *.java
28 errors? Okay..
Oh I closed my class too early.
javac *.java
Okay, only 8 errors.
Oh I forgot to close my switch.
javac *.java
19 errors?!
I can see why some people don't like Java.. >.<3 -
Not sure if this has been posted here already but if you want to troll someone, replace all the semicolons in their code with the Greek question mark ( ; ) and see how long it takes them to figure out the problem6

My first year lecturers in university. They were always passionate about their jobs and programming as a whole that it rubbed off on me. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be staying up all hours working on projects while there are assignments due. My love of what I do stems from them and I would love to inspire at least one person like they did with me.

Why are assignments so boring compared to other projects / why can't I submit my own projects in place of assignments?2
