Well, throughout my life I've never really thought about programming. Then one day during some downtime on a backpacking trip with a friend, while I had nothing to do my friend sat there with his computer with the screen all dark, filled with funny colourful text in lines of different length, with some lines even starting more towards the middle of the page than to the left, almost following a vertical wave pattern. He said he was writing a program to control his home remotly as well as working as a security feature that could unlock his home automatically when he got home. I was amazed by the colorful text as well as the fact that he could just create this crazy program out of nothing.
Half a year later I attended my first lecture at the computer science programme. My first program was a command line tool used for baking bread. It asked you how much flour you'd use and how many eggs, then it'd tell you wether or not you'd got the correct ratio. I was blown away by the intuitive nature of programming. I could imagine the control flow as a tree or flow chart in my head. I mean the whole program was only a couple of user inputs followed by an if-statement and a print-statement, but for me it was awe inspiring. I knew then that I'd probably chosen the right path in education.

To the Irish devs here, any experience with employers in Galway or Cork?
Most jobs are in Dublin or Midlands but every now and then something nice pops up.

I really wanna move to the west or south in the next 1-2 years but I’m worried about the job market there.

Of course the salary will be lower than in Dublin but I’d assume it’s still very well paid for local conditions?

Dublin is just too international for me, I like the quieter, more traditional counties better..

When I was 8 I discovered RPG Maker 2000 by chance... I started making little games and basically never stopped.
Fast forward a few years, I wanted to know how to do the 'real' stuff SO BAD. So I chose a CS-oriented high school, which filled in some gaps in my otherwise self-taught programming skills.
Discovering Ogre3D was the final nail in the coffin.

Half my Instagram likes are just me scrolling down and randomly stopping so it accidentally counts as a like.

Good luck trying to find what I've liked tho! Instagram protects that shit more than the nuclear codes.

You ever feel annoying when you explain things to your co-worker, like they're stuck on an issue and you solve it for them so you explain what happened, why it did what it did, and how the fix works, but as you talk you can see them start to get a little annoyed and just waiting for the conversation to end.

After a long work, I finally found the bug!!!

Made my first purchase on a deep web marketplace. Hope I don’t get scammed lol....

6 weeks of doing nothing except dealing with nightmares from the past in my mind I think I left all that crap behind and I am ready to jump back.
I don’t feel much anger and disappointment anymore, even some excitement for new crap to come by on my desk.
I started to write some code and practice puzzles for getting some decent job or project (again)

Puzzles are usually not a problem but I fail with HR.
When they’re asking me stupid questions I answer with stupid answers to piss them off.

But now time to get some money so I’d try to be gentle.

No wonder the stock market is going up.... Commissions used to be $7, then $5, now $0.

Now everyone can trade... And appreciate since buying and selling one cost a few cents at most.... Even cheaper than lotto tickets with better odds...

Once a guy was not able to apply for a software company coz it required 4+ years of experience in a particular API.

The problem was that he had only 2 years of experience as he himself had developed that API. 😜

It's high time that we rethink the equation " Years of experience == Skill"
