Yeah, I feel you. Add depression to the mix and you have the ultimate shit show.
For me, weight loss, excercise and stepping shorter on work pulled me out of the hole.
Impostor syndrome also faded on me, when I realized, that others only cook with water too and are not as perfect as they want it to look like.
Good luck. Remember, there is no shame in seeking (professional) help! -
One thing I learned in training: "Confident appearance despite total ignorance."
Often, you do not even need to pretend to know, just appear to know sth. to gain respect. Helped me a lot and I still know nothing ;) -
@irene jup, a real mess
-
@Parzi I use mostly generated passwords stored in a password manager.
My default length is 32, but e.g. Microsoft limited passwords to 16 chars, WITHOUT TELLING on registration or password change.
So I could register fine, when I tried to login, I got an error because the pw is too long. Had to truncate my own pw to login... Industry standard my ass! -
@GodlikeBlock I raise with:
if (condition)
return A;
return B; -
Wow, this comment thread took a turn I did not expect when klicking the post...
Gonna go wash my eyes in acid, brb. o.O -
Nice, works great!
Just dusted off my trusty 56k modem and gave it a try. Pong runs flawless and lags only sometimes and only for some seconds at a time. ^^
Still can't imagine responsive game streaming, especially as member of the pc master race who is infuriated by input lags on consoles due to tv processing...
And I bet there won't be 144hz streaming, too... -
@Ximidar Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
Depends on the task, I think both ways can be promising and fulfilling, depends strongly on the project and environment. -
Nice one.
It's kind of a hobby of mine to crate offensive acronyms for things I can name.
My favorite till today is PNS which stands for "Push Notification Service". :D -
I used to sit with another colleague in the same office, who liked to rant over similar things and was lightly triggered, with me chanting in sometimes.
Didn't think much at that time, but the hate and negativity really hurts my mood.
I feel much better, now I down't hear constant complaining and ranting. -
Lol, thats only the beginner variant.
A while ago we had to disassemble the desk of a colleague who left us. I kid you not, he used 14 (!!!) sockets and we pulled ~100m (300ft) of cables from under his desk...
Sadly there are no images of the chaos, but I assure you, the pile of cables we pulled was impressive! -
@bittersweet yeah, me too. Saw them in pictures one time, accidentially :D
-
@irene there is only one episode of the U.S. Show "Mystery Science Theatre 3000" short MST3K, and the "Wednesday" as time estimate references a stupid joke.
It's kind of an inside joke because the episode is not well known, but i watched it ~100 times and it is burned into my mind ^^ -
I usually reply with "Wednesday" because then the automatic age begins... at least according to the german version of MST3K :D
Although argumentation is still the same, see above. -
@bittersweet Respect! My NAS has only 16 TB ^^
I think the "Anus" should depict abs, btw... -
Besides the obvious "Homework" folder, a reasonable Steam Library tops everything ... ;)
-
Just made this formula up in my mind: actual_work_capacity_factor = desired_pay / actual_pay
What do you think?
P.S.: If you are over 1, you should raise your standards! :D -
Isn't Usenet still somewhat alive?
-
Maybe get rid of the spinning rust and use a SSD instead? Many older notebooks suffer from slow hard drives.
-
In the beginning or after pausing soreness is really hard, but after some weeks training, I don't feel it as much and also the pain is gone, mostly replaced by a general fatigue.
Key for me to build a routine is going to the gym 3 times a week directly after work, without going home first. It takes a lot effort to get my ass up when I go home first. -
I'm pretty fond of PlantUML, multi plattform and you mostly don't have to mess with layouting, connector routing etc.
Also integrates in Asciidoc, Redmine, IntelliJ IDEA and much more.
yEd is also great when layouting is important or Inkscape if you want full control. -
Well, there is the problem, no one uses internal optical disk drives anymore ;)
-
@Kaji There are such things as machine learning, neuronal networks and evolutionary algorithms, but those are way to advanced for "common" AI-problems ;)
-
@Krokoklemme
Doesn't always work to well, they call ist sarcasm and laugh about it... -
@d02d33pak
I'm more afraid of the OP's pet tiger as of getting hacked ^^ -
@crashbash
You're pretty lucy that your colleague has that kind of humor, if s.o. would touch my machine, I would rip his head clean off! :> -
Debian for servers and Fedora / OpenSuSe / Mint for desktop.
If you want to go all the way, try BSD, e.g. OpenBSD :D -
I'd recomment do return this ad-contaminated tablet for the cheapest kindle you can find, much better reading experience with e-ink instead of lcd.
-
If you only want to do Android development, I recommend Android Studio because it is much easiert to set up, once you get the hang of it.
I work with Spring Microservices and Android which leads me to have both IDEs installed.
Although Android Studio is based on Intellij IDEA Community Edition, it is not distributed by JetBrains, instead by Google / Android. -
I used to heat my room with my AMD Phenom powered gaming rig as a student, when my landlord decided to switch off the furnance at night in winter...
Furmark + Prime 95 ftw!
