@WildOrangutan I had an awesome experience with a recruiting agent. I know I'm possibly in the minority but.. I was up on a job site and he told me he had a job for me, that I wasn't what they thought they wanted but I was what they really wanted. Boy was he right.

@Elyz because we're not robots and just like we have different speech patterns we have different coding patterns. Imagine you were a wizard and your words changed the world. Programmers are just like that: when you look at code you are decoding a spell and inevitably just like natural language, code offers many paths to the same conclusion.

Reminds me the time we had to migrate a system from some old crusty tech that had a reeeal weird way to represent time and date. Turns out they worked that into the code and if you plugged a normal format time and date everything broke down in unsuspected places.

google is the same brand of shit... the company I work at switched to gsuite some time ago... we use and distribute ibm stuff so i had to sign on ibm with my corporate gsuite account... that same day's evening i was browsing reddit on my personal phone with my personal gmail account and started getting ads about ibm b2b products... so they datamined the corporate gsuite account, crossreferenced and found a personal gmail under the same name, concluded it was the same person and now on my personal devices i'm getting ads about my professional activities - it's just fucking unreal the kind of surveillance state we live under

I really like intellij and everything else they make... First time I started coding I downloaded NetBeans, eclipse and intellij. Haven't looked back.
