Two factor auth. Problem solved.
-
I learned everything I know from Googling and sandboxing. No fancy college degrees, no courses, no books. Just Google. I'm a lead developer and I'm doing just fine.

Whatever you do, DON'T buy a Netgear switch.
I've burned through at least 5 this year so far. They overheat way too easily. -

Don't fall for the PHP frameworks bandwagon!
Peer pressure or not, vanilla PHP contains more than enough built in APIs to suffice for even a content based website.
Some frameworks are great if you need something specialized, like a third party API integration for example, but other than that they're just added bloat! -
Nice. [read more]

What about code that prints comments? Paradox?

Set up an 'out of office' auto responder that lets them create a ticket. They can submit their ticket once you're back in the office and must allow up to 5 working days for the ticket to be reviewed. Then you can think about calling them back
-
@Bitwise Exactly. So all the more reason to focus on a job YOU know you'll be good at - a PHP focused role, for example, isn't going to need 50% of jQuery
-
@Bitwise Then your probation will prove whether you are the right fit for the job or not. Employers are always taking a risk employing anyone - it's entirely possible to completely fabricate a résumé (which has happened to us in the past too!)

@spritanium WooCommerce makes jQuery mandatory so may as well use it haha.
Glad I could help! I've been considering writing some more realistic React examples on CodePen, do you think that would be helpful at all? -
@spritanium What I would do is list it as a skill and talk through my knowledge in the interview. Gives me something else to talk about and I can communicate it in a way that doesn't undermine my other skills.
@sharktits Good God, it's beautiful! 🤩 -
@spritanium Yeah it's hard to find a decent react tutorial. Even the website is pretty vague.
I usually do a jQuery or XMLHTTP ajax call to get some juicy JSON data and just pump it straight into a react component. -
@martikyan A lot of young, up-and-coming developers don't have time to sell, but I would expect seasoned devs to steer clear of progress bars either way
-
React shouldn't be used to build entire websites. At all.
It's useful for dynamic applications where you're loading and reloading data into specific HTML structures that need to be rebuilt quickly and often.
I've used it for the dynamic cart popout in WooCommerce sites, for example. -
Nice.

Sublime is better... 🤭

Why not just use BitBucket? Private repos are completely free

Some data analyst somewhere really hates when you do that.
I do it too. -
Maybe separate the "Your profile is" and "Work" (which I'm assuming would change to the current profile setting). I'd have the setting name itself be slightly larger, maybe even bold.
Other than that I really like the concept. Simple and easy to use!
