In the days when we could meet in an office I used to say this about quite a few face to face meetings...

I've been an engineer for quite a while, I still sometimes think back 5 years (and I've been an engineer a lot longer than that) and think I've learnt loads in that time, it never ends.
Kudos for absorbing and learning, I've met more than one young engineer that refuses to do tasks a certain way, "because it's hard" etc., regardless of experienced engineers explaining why its done that way.
Never stop learning. -

Have a look at Manjaro, it's arch based and a damn sight easier to install than pure arch. (disclaimer, I can't remember if it had an option for LUKS/LVM on install though, it must be there somewhere though).
-
I'd hazard a guess at type mismatch... I'm sure I've done a rust tutorial that talks over something similar to this...
Or the variable is being changed by a different thread maybe? -
You will probably find it's because you have half a dozen other things to do now your a little older. Having to do food shopping, cooking, fixing the car, DIY, cleaning, traveling further to name just a few that you may not have done at junior high.
Spend an evening semi planning a project and assign some time for it at the weekend or something, that might help. Make it a fun/useful project to keep yourself interested. -
If anyone else needs it this guide runs through a few ways to install debs in an arch based system.

I'm pretty sure there is an install guide on how to do that in the arch wiki... Or maybe the manjaro one. I'll come back with a link later when I get a minute.

I actually prefer 2 over 4, I find 4 is too spread out. But hey, personal preference. Editors nowadays tend to sort it all out for you though, displaying whatever you prefer.
-
As others have mentioned it depends who your aiming to get hired by in the future, I work at a big company and degree students are definitely considered first. My degree really helped me with general learning but you need to do some learning in your own time too to really start adding some meat to your knowledge on some subjects.

I have a Asus zenbook that ticks all those boxes except the drive size but I bought an ex display model so didn't get a choice on drive size. Super thin and lightweight too.
-
I haven't for ages but have just started using Fira code font and that's looking rather nice.

When I'm using it, naked. When it goes back in my pocket it goes in a sleeve.

Having worked for stuff on planes, if it's a system that could potentially doom hundreds of people, it is tested to death and coded very carefully. When your mum used to code, stuff was probably very precise and done slowly because mistakes and reruns etc would take forever to turn around, that might be why she is so hesitant now with modern tech. Whereas we treat a lot of it now as throw away, or switch off then switch on again then start over.
P.S. Your mum's awesome, I've seen some of the old aircraft coding, design, tests. Some of it was works of geniuses to get that stuff working. -
Lots of languages do this
-
Total commander for me as well, does everything I need and well.
-
My Seat does that, I have it centered on the radio and ONLY use my steering wheel volume wheel...
-
No one ever knows everything, your always learning. Always strive for more in the language your using then from time to time you will most likely have to branch out and learn something new and it continues.

I hate places that just expect it, or managers that go "well look the rest of the team are doing it why can't you be a team player" or words to that effect. I've got no problem doing some overtime short term to crunch a big bug or cause something unexpected happened, but let's be honest if it's all the time it's being mis-managed or they done f***ed up when planning.
-
@bahua if he's at a place like my place it depends whether you have the permissions to kill it. As a developer I do have that level of access but most people don't...
-
I get this at my place, it's really annoying especially if your using your pc to display something for others and can't hide it 😠
-
I would say finish what you started personally, but it really depends what work is available around you.
I work for a large company and they wouldn't take anyone that didn't either have some solid qualifications they can train up or some decent experience.
If you can keep yourself motivated doing some personal work while finishing the course you might have a little portfolio and a qualification... Or you could leave now and land yourself a great job, but that's a little more risky. -
I used to run and work out till health issues stopped me, but I'll get back to it when I'm fit again. I see a 50 50 split where I work, half don't work out the other half do.
