@dark-passenger pretty normal dev salary here
-
I’m not sure what you mean?! They make 10K each?! We are 200 employees in the company.
This is Denmark, not India! -
@enclaver thants not overtime pay, but normal pay... overtime is double
-
Of course they will be paid. They make an avarage of 10,000$ a month without overtime...!
-
@DRHAX34 Well... That's part of it I think!
-
@anon81 No, not really. The job is 30% budgets, 40% meetings and 30% phone calls.
-
@Hedgepig SURE! In Excel... 😳
-
Seriously, would any of you recommend making a multimillion dollar investment ind an all new ERP solution project kicking off now to be hosted on premises?
The industry is not only moving to "cloud first"... its more like "cloud only"! Why would anyone want to maintain their own servers?! -
@iAmNaN What exactly do you mean by that...?
-
@iAmNaN In that case I will be held sole responsible for any damage I think
-
@HoloDreamer thanks!
-
@leolas95 To be a manager in a software company I guess. I studied software engineering but never liked the implementation part of it, so I quit as soon as I could!
-
@armaged I've never liked development, so I guess we are all different. Debugging makes me wanna jump off the nearest bridge, and an hour of coding feels like a year to me!
-
@HoloDreamer It's still pretty new to me, but most of my time is spend maintaining budgets, reporting to the board and the CFO/CEO, analyzing the company's IT needs and specifying requirements for the ERP system we should have build by some external company.
I think is much more interesting that writing code. -
I'm aware of that @dfox
-
Seriously?! Here there are between 5 and 300 GB on non-flat data plans. A 300 GB plan is 300 DKR/month (around $40, or the same as the cost of 3 pizzas)
-
Well then... "stupid is who stupid does" then -Forrest Gump
-
Still NOT sure what you mean...!?
-
Stupid is only he who pretends to know everything!
-
I'm not sure what you mean? The advice applies to every profession in tech or business in general
-
@michaelwrites it's 7:45 now. Been up since 6. I love these quite Saturday mornings before the rest of the family wakes up. Coffee, casual browsing (and working on a business plan for my newly founded company)
-
If money is what drives you, take this advice:
Change work often! Like every 1-2 years or so! That way, you will always know your exact market value, and be in a better position negotiating your salary and benefits. Make a detailed plan of your career, and stick to it! Don't get emotionally involved with companies or coworkers... and apply to new interesting jobs often. Even if you have no intention on accepting a job offer. -
Well. What is your background? A person holding a masters degree will of cause earn a better salary than someone with no degree?
Actually how long you are at a company has very little to say regarding your compensation in the private sector. Only places like government or public offices gives you a raise based on that! -
BTW there is an option to put location on your profile. Check it out!
-
Aye aye from Denmark.. which is pretty much on the exact opposite side of the globe!
-
Always opt for a flat rate data plan. In that case you always have internet even if the wired line is out!
We've got one wired line, and 2 4G flat rate subscriptions from different carriers. Better safe than offline I guess! -
So, how did you post this?
-
@kekkyojin no hard feelings at all! Maybe questions could be tagged "QandA" and then only shown by searching for that tag?
@dfox -
It may come as a surprise to you, but I do not use those apps, so I can't tell you how or if they work when the screen is locked. A quick search on Google reveals a few problems with GPS and locked device screens though.
Sorry for asking my question here, but unlike Stackoverflow I got a quick, short and precise answer answer without taking a major detour through every theoretical approach to the problem possible. I'll investigate this later...
And that's exactly what I needed to move on with this wild business idea that suddenly popped up...
Have a great weekend! -
Thanks guys!
