Once upon a time, an IT major named adamyeti thought it was a good idea to work on projects directly off of a flash drive with no backup. Halfway through a large ASP.NET project, the drive failed. I fumbled through a free drive recovery tool, but all of the data was scrambled and corrupted.

I ended up having to start from scratch on the project, but I learned my lesson for sure.

Just do something else. I can only rack my brain on the same problem for so long before it's pointless. As one of my professors often says "I've solved more coding problems in the shower than I ever have in front of a computer.

My software engineering team is using Kivy for the front-end of our application, and I would like to punch whoever did the documentation for it. There are lots of possibilities with Kivy, but good luck figuring out how to achieve them.

Once I realized the power of ASP.NET in my Advanced Web Dev class... It was like a culmination of all of my favorite things: web design, programming, instant gratification....

My life would be forever changed 👐

If you make students take coding tests/quizzes on paper, don't grade them on picky syntax errors! We don't code on paper in the real world; syntactic highlighting and red squiggles will usually show you that you accidentally typed that declaration incorrectly. Understanding programming concepts is much more important than being able to write a program on paper.

Many higher-level courses preach about importance of HCI, UX, etc., but not a single class in the program I went through actually touched front-end development.
