@AvatarOfKaine that’s why you protect the SSH-keys with a passphrase.

I got a new one a few days ago. Had to swap for a larger drive, so I used Windows Media Creation tool to create a bootable USB-stick. After that, installing Windows took just 15-20 mins! Might be worth the time, just to get rid of all the OEM-crap (still get a bit of MS-crap, though).

On some models, you can enable keyboard-press-to-boot in BIOS. Then you can just hit a key on your external keyboard to get it to boot.

Here it usually is 3 mo. And, if the contract doesn’t specify anything, then the law regulates it to 1 mo. It work both ways (resigning or fired). I think it’s great for both parties! Also, those who are hiring doesn’t really expect a new employee to start before 3-4 mo, as that’s the normal time for anyone that’s not unemployed when they get hired.

I’m a software engineer, been working as IT support for 10 years now (2nd/3rd tier, not 1th). Computers onsite-support, printers (remote), servers, etc. A PowerShell script now and then is the only programming I do. So the user might be on to something... ;) even though I can understand that someone hired as a developer doesn’t want to do computer support, just saying that a programmer might have the skills required anyways.

Did you get the job, @sleek?
-
@Pyjong sadly not. It keeps the contents hot, but doesn’t have enough power to heat it up from cold or boil it.

No batteries? No Bluetooth? And you call yourself a tech-person? :o
This is my mug - great for all the times I have to run put out a fire (read: turn off and on again a printer/computer/monitor). Coffee still warm when I get back! -
Since you had his cards, did he steal the booze...? 🤔

I made a tool that parses PDF order forms (each customer had different production software that creates the orders in different formats) and converts them to a standardized excel form. I used a cloud service to first convert PDF to XLS and then fetching the data from the spreadsheet afterward. Don’t know if that’s an alternative for you?

@Frederick looking at the cup, I would guess the language being danish... ;)

My colleague watched fakeupdates.net for 30 minutes. It reached 180% before I finally told him it was fake...

I prefer 8-3.30. With flexibility like 9-4.30 if I want to.

Are every other room locked? If not, one could make as much “damage” by plugging into a random RJ45-wall outlet in any other room. No point in securing only the switches if the wall outlets throughout the site is easily accessible!

Nothing special about this, iPhones are the same. If “Find my iPhone” is enabled, it's not possible for someone else to use the phone, even after factory reset.

@yendenikhil sure! https://github.com/DISCOOS/...
It’s currently in use in Norway and Iceland (that I know of). -
Hope you don’t need an docking/eport? The thunderbolt TB18-docking sucks and causes a lot of trouble with 7530/7730! Countless bios-updates and TB18-firmwares released in a short period of time...

Make sure you don’t create a country that joins the EU, then...

Plot twist: you’ve seen ads for VPS all the time, but only unconsciously and THAT’S why you now think you need and want to buy a VPS. Got played by the ads ;)

Win10 is not targeted by WannaCry.

Reminds me of https://devrant.io/rants/558378/... 😁

@Charmgoggles sent the manual before the last "status meeting", and walked through it at the meeting as well. They said it was clear and easy, and they had tested it before the meeting as well...

@shackra CraftCMS

He clearly works at Pied Piper - they have a kick-ass compression algorithm!

I just sent this to my previous boss (who always doubled my estimates before presenting to the client)...

Hope your company doesn't pay for bandwidth-usage. All computers streaming a YouTube-video for years! :p

Very secure...
