@stackodev @stackodev I've never said that there should not be any management layer in organization. I simply think that if you want to manage tech project you need tech knowledge to do so.

Traditional Ponzi schemes are zero sum games, crpyto on the other hand, since it uses shit-load of electricity, is actually a negative-sum game.
It's even worse lol -
@NotJeckel Well, this is going to be anecdotal evidence, but I've worked a number of "blue collar" jobs before IT and in that environment, it would be silly to assume that anyone involved, especially more senior employees, could have zero clue about the job itself. Also my sister is what you would call middle management in the automotive industry (non-IT part of automotive to be precise), and she has a proper technical background (studied mechanical engineering) as well as she is extremely familiar with every and each technicality of their product.
On the other hand, I have a cloud migration project now and my "project manager" who supervises the whole thing doesn't really know what a virtual machine is ...
So yeah, I stand by my point that this is mostly an IT thing. -
I hope they would have little bit of reflective-emotional moment looking on all those //TODOs that I was planning to implement, yet never had a time to do so ...

Last winter, I was able to finally detach myself from my daily news scrolling habit, and oh boy, it was blissful. I had a lot less stress and a lot more peace of mind.
Unfortunately, the Russo-Ukrainian war put me right back into my news-junkie state.
But I've learned a few things:
- Important news is going to reach you anyway (via friends, family, memes, work, etc.), the FOMO is irrational.
- Most news is simply a different branch of entertainment (like YouTube or TikTok). They prey on your attention and monetize on advertisements, but they offer little to no value or relevance.
- "Hive-minds" and echo chambers are very real and bizarre things, and they can make people obsessed with issues that have zero relevance to their personal lives. -
I have better story, I had admin rights on my machine until few days ago, but I've revived email that due to "security reasons™", I'm gonna be stripped of them, the whole thing was accompanied with some kind of windows update that reseted my system config, which in case turned on Windows Hyper-V feature. Now since I'm doing 99% of my work on a virtual machine, I need this feature to be turned off just to even start a vm, and I can't change it by my self no more so I'm effectively not able to do my work now ..
I'm not complaining tho -
Self documenting code is such a bullshit meme, like sure code itself should also as much self-exploratory as it is possible, but, if needed why not explain it further in comments ? That's the fucking reason comments have been invented after all. If the comment add nothing but bloat, well that's a problem of that particulate comment content not the idea of commenting the code itself.

In ever-expending part of the world you even need a smartphone and an app to do government/taxes/healthcare related things nowadays. I believe Estonia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...) is leading in this field although I don't live there and can't speak from my experience .
"Old rich" countries, like US, France, Germany etc. seems to be bit more resilient to trend (probably because they all have big, wealthy, influential and not-tech savy boomer class they fell need to constantly appease) but I suspect this change is coming to them as well within next ~5 years
Soon the smartphone/phone number will be new ID.
It fucking sucks -
Cmake is pure and utter horseshit and simultaneously best build system in c++ sphere.
unfortunately -
I understand, and mostly share your sentiment. I have friend who is huge Elon Musk fan, a he firmly believes that Tesla is going to release fully functional humanoid robot (Tesla Bot) that is going to replace most of human labor around the world, in the ***next year***. He's also buying Tesla stock like a crazy for that reason.

@Oktokolo
Well, to specify, the machine I was referring to is Dell Precision 5560, which, as far as I know, is fairly popular in corporate sphere (whole Precison line up I guess), and I don't think it can fall into category of art device as the scree cannot be flipped back into "tablet mode", neither detached nor anything particularly useful.
There is also no pen included, and perhaps one can buy some kind of third-party one but it would be very uncomfortable to draw anything on this, as the screen leans the most ~110 degrees, and keyboard also blocks the comfortable access.
I'm gonna disable this, hopefully this setup will last longer than until next windows update.
