Although i understand your point and agree with it, this text made me think for a while about the quality of software we are producing. Sometimes i see so many people (devs) being lenient with low quality software because maybe 1- they don't give a shit 2- they're lazy 3- they think that the code is actually good. We as users of mobile devices and softwares "expect" them to be almost-zero-bug even knowing that this is impossible, because "the companies have high QA standards". Shouldn't we start doing the same? I always spend some time trying to make people understand the obvious but seems like they only want their paychecks and say things like "the user doesn't know about the shitty quality of code" and "who cares as long as it works".

Oh god i want that stress ball so much. Seems so fluffy.

@Haxk20 next step: stdlib. No no, i'm joking. Go have some fun with her using loops and variables (i love you %d times) and then maybe she will like it seeing how it works. And then just wait her curiosity overwhelm you with a lot of questions.
-
@orijin i couldn't say it better. It's exactly that.

Or :x

@albizgil i meant that this is one of the arguments i've heard when people were defending Java (good because runs on a lot of devices). To them i make this analogy. Like i said i am a Java dev so i know some pros and cons. I just think that we can't use this argument and say that If Java wasn't that good, it wouldn't be running on 3 billion devices.
-
@albizgil i don't know where you live but i can assure you that not every place on planet works like there. I agree with you, It is good, it helps a lot of people, and it is really important. Maybe you just didn't understand the analogy.

Linux ftw. And i am a Java dev btw.

@adbo sometimes that is a huge then that may never happen

Now keep searching how MS is amazing and how proud you would be If you could just work there. Pretend someday someone may call you and say how much passion you have towards Microsoft and because of that you will get a job.
To me it's just stupid share all this information with them for your own amusement. But that's just my opinion of course. You can keep sharing all information you want about yourself If you see some benefit comming from it, but If you don't, then i don't know what to say. -
@DutchmanDavid Thanks for your reply. I learned a lesson that day but now you made it crystal clear to me.
-
just remove the { } since it's 1 instruction and it will be even cleaner.
If(cond)
dosh17(); -
Enjoy while you can eh?

Every time i read this sentence i just force myself to remember public mass transport.
-
He is probably less afraid of getting fired than a lot of devs working there.

2 lines can be disastrous. I once fixed a bug that was cancelling valid POS transactions because the guy put != instead of ==. So i just had to change it and it still works atm.
-
Every single time that i have to write something it is my name while signing something. And it keeps getting weirder and weirder. Plus they are all different.
-
I had to use C to write POS software.. I just think you don't really know about what you are talking.
And i suggest you to study a little bit more. -
