I know this guy through some mutual friends that tries to brag about everything he does that involves a computer in some way.

One time (probably 4 months ago), he used inspect element to replace the text on the Google homepage with like Amazon versions (Amazon mail, Amazon drive, etc), then proceeded to take a picture of the screen WITH HIS PHONE and show every single person he saw.

Every time I talk to him, he always brings up some pointless thing he did to make it seem like he knows what he's doing. But whenever I mention some more specific stuff (today I mentioned Linux), he claims to know exactly what I'm talking about but quickly changes the subject to something about his car (he drives a Jeep and has to let everyone know, like an Arch Linux user)

Dude just claims to know everything there is to know and can't back it up and it gets more annoying every fucking day

Anyone else ever have to deal with someone that clearly don't know a ton, but knows just enough to be dangerous/annoying as fuck?

Just opened a terminal window on my PC through SSH with a reminder to write two reminder scripts. Reminder-ception?

I hate being sick. I have the brain power to come up with project ideas and the motivation to carry them through, but I don't have the brain power to actually do them.

I always hear stories about someone hearing one of our developer friends is a developer and assumes that means they know everything about computers. Hell, I've had it happen to me before (usually the common "oh I have an app idea that's better than facebook! you just have to build it")

A big one I hear if someone asking a developer that has only worked with software to help fix a hardware issue or build a computer. Personally, I'd prefer if someone asked me about a hardware issue (except printers, fuck printers) or to build a computer for them. I've been called a rare breed for knowing about an equal amount about computer hardware and software.

I'd much rather do some physical work building a computer (as simple as a hello world program, a lot of it is putting shit where it fits) than build an entire website or program for someone. But I mean, I might actually know hardware a bit better than I know software, and that's just me. (Obviously never do anything for free when you could be paid for it)

Stress and anxiety are bitches. I'm sure that mostly everyone here already knows that. Sometimes life is just a fucking mess, and no matter what you do, it just gets worse and worse.

Personally, shit's just gotten so bad lately. A bit more than a year ago life was shit and I started pulling out my hair, then I noticed I had a bald spot after about a week and I did everything I could to stop. Managed to stop, until recently. Right now I have a fair sized bald patch right on the top of my head after about a month of pulling. At least I have long hair (about chest length) so I can just put it up to cover the spot.

This community has been the thing keeping me sane lately and I just wanted to thank you guys for just doing what you do. I'm a fucking mess and just need an outlet

Am I the only one who thinks that using a flashlight for notifications is the worst fucking idea ever?

Best decisions:
- Switching to Linux entirely
- Learning how to use the shell

Worst decisions:
- Using Windows 8
- Hardcoded passwords (I built a small thing for myself, don't judge)

I don't know if we already had a weekly rant about petty revenge or anything, but I did just pull some petty bullshit maybe 30 minutes ago.

A couple people I know are trying to start a clothing brand (think I posted something about it on here before) and asked me to build the website cause one of them found out I write code. (Well, he asked if I was good with computers and I told him that I am, and he basically said "you're building our website then")

Basically these people are..not good people. One of them has a history of sexually harassing girls (some of which are really close friends of mine), the other one is basically following in his footsteps. They also like to go to the parking lot of an elementary school (the one that my little sister goes to actually) and get high.

Both of them have fucked me over at some point in the few years I've known them. And so now my silent indirect petty revenge begins. Earlier I bought the domain name for the online store they're trying to (make me) build. Considering having the site redirect to a gay porn site.

One of them is currently getting into shit having to do with drugs, which is not my doing, but I can probably find a way to get them into trouble. Especially the fact that they're doing drugs in the parking lot of an elementary school. That shit's just fucked up, no exceptions.

Anyone have any suggestions for shit I could do to them?

So for my senior night last night, all the seniors got gifts. I said that I wanted rubber ducks. I got all these ducks AND a FUCKING HUGE DUCK (currently deflated, I'll post a picture sometime).

These fuckers went all out and got me this many fucking ducks. I will never have a debugging issue again in my life

Installed an SSH server on my desktop so I can use the shell from my laptop...while still sitting in front of my desktop. Keyboard is less than a foot beyond my reach because leaning back, but laptop is in reaching distance.

Still have that SSH server up for mainly the same reason. Decided to also open it to WAN so I can do shit while I'm not home too.

Indentation bug in python after searching hours for the bug. Yes, indentation bugs still happen in 2018. Thanks to TDD I failed fast otherwise it would take way longer to find the bug.
