Haven't been here in a while, but I hope I will be helped with my question.
Can I get recommendations for cool software blogs to read, not primarily focused on software, but more "philosophical", kinda like Martin Folwer. -
Ah this is encouraging, to see top scientist and thinkers on this matter coming together. An AI guided by sound principles is an AI future I can look forward to.

I must say I love learning new things!!! Took a quick detour to build a small custom music player, now it doesn't seem to be that quick as I am learning a new framework. Only about 11 pages of many more still to go, and the funny thing? The main part I need - how to play audio, is in the last section of the tutorials. -
What is key for you? Money or growth opportunity?
Company A - offers X amount, and it's work environment is such that challenges you to learn and grow.
Company B - can offer you 20% more, but doesn't a lot of interesting things, your average turn around time for tasks is a day, two at best.
Which would you choose?5 -
Hoarding tendencies.
Exploring different possible solutions for a problem, eventually you or management decide on the way to go, now I should delete the other code I wrote while exploring, but thinking, "ok I may not need it now, but who knows what might come up, let me comment it out until the end of the project when I am certain that it is no longer needed." -
Saw the Tesla self-driving capabilities? When Elon said he was looking for rockstar software engineers, he wasn't kidding.4

Client knows a few technical terms, they put them in a document or slap them on some diagram then asks for a quote - the frustration.

I have a client that I have done some freelance work for, he has been seeking investors to build out the whole system that he wants, he might have some willing investors now. I want to ask, what is the best way to make a cost estimate for a project that may span 2 or 3 years?10

Ever had the experience of looking for the perfect js library to do some small job for you, after hours of evaluating, trying to tweak the one that seems closest to what you want, you end up thinking I should rather just code this myself.3

Just for laughs. A friend's WhatsApp status reads:
There is a fine line between a numerator and a denominator. Only a fraction of people will find this funny. -
Listened to the Google product launch yesterday, didn't notice this "feature" until now. Talk about throwing shade.11

Mondays aren't the best time for me.
If it is a lazy weekend, this is the routine:
Sleep most of the morning in, wake up - do things, 10PM, think of some code to work on. 11PM, yeah, enough energy now - lets code! -
Just a thought. Writing a program then clicking run, and your code runs first time, should be something that becomes more common place as one improves their coding ability, now that we call development. To be always surprised when that happens, almost seems to say that such is a matter of luck.3

When your one rant that showed real potential to get you that stress ball has now slowed. Each new upvote revives the hope and you think - c'mon c'mon, nearly there!8

Code doesn't lie, but sometimes you really feel like it is. Just curious, is there anyone here that has ever actually found a bug with a platform?2

Sometimes, "a different error, yes progress" is an illusion. It's like pushing a car that has broken down up a hill, after you finally reach the top, it starts rolling down nicely, only to meet another larger hill on the other side.3

Remembering of when I first learnt about the importance of version control.
There I was, working in Visual Studio, laptop unplugged; the laptop suddenly shuts down - battery dead. Not too worried, might just have to rewrite a few lines I had not saved. Restart the machine, open VS, the file I was working on now contains strange characters - totally damaged.
Google for help, find a question on stackoverflow with the same issue (comforting moment). The answer I get:
"First question, why wasn't your code on source control?"4 -
I love devRant.
So there I am on the devRant website, busy clicking through options I haven't checked before; I click on "Settings", then the options "Logout" and "Delete Account" appear.
It just so happens that when the options came up, the mouse is hovering over the "Delete Account" button, at the thought of such my mind was like - Ahh! Nooo!3 -
One of the things I like are - website redesigns. To look back at one's old work and think, I can't believe I thought it was a good idea to release such. Shows progress.

If only I had enough freelance work to quit my job and dictate my own hours. working hours would be 18:00 to 5:00.1
