Yeah I used Laravel for 3 years, learnt express recently and never want to go back to Laravel
-
Yeah I have Y experience but they wanted X language which is basically the same as Y.
For instance this company wanted Alpine Js and I have experience of VueJS. Learnt Alpine, did the test and explained problems with Alpine and the test given to me when I was making it maintainable and scalable to demonstrate my skillset and knowledge. Their solution was to not make it maintainable and instead just copy and paste code from one file given to me and paste it in the index file...
This is for a Junior role but I'm so used to trying to show case my skills that I never experienced a company wanting this methodology instead. -
I'm a graduate and now have 1 year programming experience..
-
@PaladinRevenant yeah I'll go to amazon now tbh and order myself some colour pens and a notebook
Edit: Thanks for the advice, 😄. Sorry if that came out as sarcasm -
@Commodore I know I need to take breaks quite alot 😅 I just get really carried away when I'm in the zone and do not wish to move
-
Depends what country and city you are based in.
I'm from UK so I'll say my story and hopefully it might help you
When I graduated (in 2018) I really wanted to work in a geoscience company - however I was unable to get into this field I needed experience to get into the graduate role..
I finally have job after 8 months (due to brexit).. the role ok to deal with but it's the workplace that makes it fun for me.
I do still wish to still go into my dream field but It doesn't matter to me, I can switch fields anytime I want - that is after all the best part about a computer science degree.
Tl:Dr. It doesn't matter about your first job. Just get a job secured - you can still apply to other companies (or gaming if you still wish to) if you are unhappy. -
@irene done that already :) was just happy that I commented my if statements so I can read them easily (though I need to look at how to make them shorter)
-
@Jilano I see what you did there, very smooth 😂
-
Oh man, I shall never under estimate the power of comments again
-
A.
Easier to read -
I always thought companies look down upon people who have medical problems - especially in the UK. I'm just going to be honest with them and tell them I have these dates booked. Thanks so much
-
@karasube thanks for trying to help! But I'm redoing the project now (it was just to learn react).
The reflog returned the cloned repository I started off with if you wish to know. -
@11000100111000 yeah, I just wanted it to be there. Didn't expect that would cause this situation I'm in. Lesson learnt I guess.. Never -f push unless you know what damages it will do..
-
@buitrung everything has vanished
-
Changed the github repository name.
Deleted old remote keys.
Added new remote key (pointing to the same repository but with updated name)
Tried to push, got an error:
Updates were rejected because the remote contains work that you do hint: not have locally.
Forced pushed (push successful)
Rechecked my repository and its now showing the cloned version of a repository I cloned 2-3 months ago. All updates I have done since the is gone. -
Universities can provide a loan up to £500 per month with no interest (depending on uni) . Try speaking to your student support unit.

@C0D4 I'm using Adobe Xd to make the prototype. Would you suggest I make it in html and css?
-
Looks awesome! Can't wait for mine to come in
-
Thank you for reminding me to do this 😅
-
Why don't you just convert it to a string and return the number of chars? 🤔
-
Even worse when the client doesn't respect how long it takes to develop a product.
-
They called me today asking me to do the website for them.
This is what they wanted:
- A shopping system with the followings:
- A bold nude color for a square bag.
- A nude color incremental text, same color,
to show case how many items are in the bag
- Display items for sale per page (without ordering/quantity system)
The bag must not:
- Have circles in them
- Have rounded edges at the top
Told them to post it on freelancers and actually pay money. They said "No, we don't have the budget." (But they have the money to move offices... ) -
@Robinha you are a lifesaver! I'm in an internship and not getting paid right now since it's the only thing I could find.
I'll report this ad for now and then report the company im working for after I leave this job. -
@Schroedinbug backend developer internship that lets you do only front end stuff 👍
-
@linuxxx yup, it's available in the play store, not sure if it's open sourced frankly. But you can do a quick Google search :P
-
Started using ecosia, not just because they use their profits to plant trees but because it supports ad-blocking and uses less data usage compared to chrome
-
@pinoelefante literally the same for me. Kinda frustrating when they scan it though but don't exactly read it properly
@Omnisus haha! Most likely. They probably thought I'm some desperate grad back then looking for work for little to no salary -
100% relate
I had this but with a company.
They called me up saying "can you come on Monday for a face to face interview".
Then they said(face to face interview):
"We noticed your a recent graduate, were looking for people who have more experience but since your here we do an interview with you."
"Why should we hire you over someone more experienced?" -
@heyheni another thing to download now for python. Please no!
I can't be asked to download that, created a script to reinstall all the libraries I used 😅.
That tool might help me in the future though, looks promising -
@Jifuna I had an interview for a front dev and I got rejected because I never used wordpress 😔
Next time I'm just going to say yeah I have used wordpress. All it takes is 1-2 hours to learn it
Edit: I'm literally just trying to land a job, do anything I find is fine for me atm
