@exelix @maushax I'm using regular Chrome and Firefox (not focus). I disabled js in the site settings in Chrome and it worked. I think for Firefox, I would need to change a config or get an add-on to disable js. It wasn't an important article so I'm not going to do any of that.

😂 and then you'll see the inconsistent settings (some can only be changed in the Windows 7 views and others in the dumb Settings app). Then you'll get screwed over by the automatic updates that may or may not completely break your computer.
-
@zlice why do you hate crowdfunding? And I agree that it's an interesting layout and pricey. I now have to use an ergonomic keyboard and mouse due to the lovely carpal tunnel and I've wanted to switch to a mechanical keyboard for a few years now. Finally found some cool ones 😊 Granted, this could go terribly wrong and I could hate it, but we'll see.

Aside from the Mac vs. Windows part of it, I would go with more space so the 256.

@Rundle no problem..wanted to make sure you understood that this question doesn't really apply to a specific gender.
And to answer your question - I have a B.S. in comp sci and started programming in college (skipping the part where I messed around with HTML on myspace and xanga as a child haha). My first semester at the university I had to take discrete math for my initial major, which wasn't comp sci. I was a little iffy on the major and ended up switching a few times, but still signed up for the next comp sci class for that major (intro to OO programming in Java). I left for a few years to get some gen ed credits at a community college and returned to the uni to get a degree in comp sci. I kinda had a mentor (a professor who helped me figure out my transfer credits and later became my software engineering teacher). Something just clicked when I learned to code. I have an analytical mind and I'm a perfectionist so it seemed like I was born to do this. Thankfully I enjoy it, too! -
May I ask why your question is mainly for lady devs? I don't see the purpose of that as the roles could just as easily be reversed. What does gender have to do with it?
-
@senzory The fact that you even said that shows that we have a lot more work to do in this world. Learn some respect. Google it and educate yourself. You have much to learn about tolerance, acceptance, and (at the very least) respect. @iamroot has two moms who are both @iamroot's parents.
-
@Stuxnet You're right - there was a time when people didn't break their backs trying to be inclusive. You know what they did instead? Hired the men over equally qualified women because of their gender. Hired whites over equally qualified African Americans because of their race. Guess what? There's still sexism and racism in this world. You're living in a fantasy if you think there was ever a time when people were only hired based on their skills.
-
@Stuxnet "Can we just go back to the days where we hire people for skills?" Uhhh was there ever a time where people were only hired for skills?
-
@Floydian some Chicago-style deep dish 🍕 enjoy!
-
@Floydian Yes, you won. 👏🎉🏆

@Floydian 💯💯💯

@Floydian case dismissed! Bring in the dancing lobsters! 🦐

P.S. that is one of the best posts I've seen on here and is my go-to when I introduce someone to devrant. -
Also this week: fuck everyone complaining about GitHub and Microsoft, this will be great
How is your post not equivalent to a reply all in an email chain telling people to stop replying all? -
Everyone - thank you for your responses. You have all made my mom feel special haha and I'm not sure if she can install any programs. I'll check to see what options she has already installed. Thanks!
-
@RobertSmits ohh nice! Good to know for my reference, but she's still on Windows 7.
-
Ugh I've seen userName and passWord
-
Of course I'm going to delay it as long as I can so Microsoft can fix their update before I have no choice but to update. This forced update may then break my computer like it did a few months ago. 👍
-
My sister installed a Windows 10 update a few days ago. Computer restarts and there's this lovely error that says "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation." Spent a few days fixing it. Thankfully I could still access the admin cmd prompt and copy her files over to my external drive. Tried to reinstall Windows and keep her files, got the same error. Clean install fixed it.

I would have no job or money without customers.
-
@milkybarkid Not so bad yourself! One of my favorite chocolates 😊
-
I'm sorry, @PrivateGER 😕 Is that the limit in your area or with your provider?
-
@billgates I have AT&T so you could get regular up to a certain speed or fiber for 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps. There's no in between. I tried to go to 1 Gbps, but there was some interference near my house so WiFi was limited to 250 Mbps. I decided to drop down to 100.
-
@b3b3 Thank you! And yes, I know. I was way behind. I had the same speed for a long time so I was due for a change. Plus, it started affecting my work when I worked from home.
-
Hmm I did that before becoming an engineer. Further proof that this is my calling?
-
Side note: I'm liking that color scheme. What editor and scheme are you using?
-
And then you have to reference their misspelled variables.
