@Jop- haven't looked yet and haven't heard of it before
-
@Celes I think I'm still looking at electron just as a reason to learn web dev stuff too as I've avoided it forever.
-
Does fit my needs really. Want something that doesn't require a lot of effort from the user to get installed and get going, while also allowing me to present nicely on different platforms.
I wasn't thinking of mono as I thought it was also paid to distribute? But might have to check again. -
@Celes destroy desktop app world? Why's that
-
@Celes well was going to wpf it just cause of using used in past but yeah not sure. Haven't done c++ in forever so that's kind of out of the question, c# or Python I guess.
Thinking electron just cause I wanted a good framework for web since that web would be easy cross platform but don't want to have to worry about weird browser diff -
Don't have money to buy QT and would like to sell this product in the end so don't really want to open source it... :(
-
@Grizzly not sure what you're getting at. Granted it was typed on a phone so there's likely to be mistakes..
-
Me today (Tuesday) after coming back from holiday. Got home and in bed really really late last night... Gonna be a long one
-
I honestly don't think it's that bad for what's being done... Like sure he could use more descriptive names but really that isn't very hard to understand what's happening
-
Carpenter or blacksmith I think.
-
Unit tests are something I'd like to pick up as well cause that is definitely a weak point for me too
-
New demon Hunter album that came out today :) stoked
-
@jchw gee-om-etry?
-
I feel you man. I'm still waiting.. At about 5 weeks now. They did they will let all applicants know the outcome so I'm just like ffs let me know so I can figure out where the hell I'm moving
-
@moshmage seems like a UK qwerty
-
Same boat man.. Paddling up shit creek with my hands right now
-
To be fair, with the computers at my work if we plug in a new display cable while the computer is on, 95% chance they have to restart for it to start displaying.
It's weird but they could have been being legit (if they hadn't plugged into an out port obv) -
The 2%is probably gee-if or something weird like that
-
@deMark likely. Not my script though. I'm just dealing with the shit output it gives. Written by someone else and I don't get paid enough to fix that
-
All. The. Time.
While in uni it would be I'd literally try tons of things, Google, SO and not find my solution.
Write a quick email to my Prof asking for help and then continue trying stuff. Usually ~5 mins later fix the problem and have to email again going I found it..PEBKAC -
Well this is an online one but I don't disagree
-
@deMark yup shell and automated is how it's going. But sometimes comps fall off the network and it can't run and another script checks the last date it ran and gives me the useless potato output
-
@Eariel yeah I agree some are good and can actually be interesting.
The one that prompted this was equilibrium index of array
Thought it looked useless. Googled and everyone says, outside of interview, pretty useless.
Bothers me that actual useful questions aren't asked instead of obscure non actual practical questions aren't used instead -
I have to help re write a script that tells us when our machines can't rsync. Right now a script runs and guess oh
PotatoComp can't rsync, should this be in excludes (to not be auto rsynced)?
Not giving us any useful info on the system, whether it's still on the network, pingable or even in use.
I only have to help cause I wrote a py script to get me that info so I could hunt machines down.
I'm on the bottom rung of the dept (like the legs compared to the guys writing these scripts are the brains) and I'm being told I should just fix their script heh.. Like I'm not even paid enough for my bills let alone enough to fix your script while doing my actual job... Frustrating...(friggin rsync) -
Holy man that's brutal yet insanely funny at the same time (mainly because it's not happening to me I guess)
-
@nmunro that's the key. Random words of encouragement help so much.
-
That review is priceless
-
That sucks hard... Hope there is a back up
-
@P3t3r6 yeah that's also one of the frustrations... Just moved to London with a visa so I can work but I can't do a "permanent" job so I think this is making it harder to find as well
-
@Teslov interesting, might have to check it out
