I'm already searching after a new job. This it not how you motivate employees to work better. It's just sad for them, that I'm really needed and they potentially go bankrupt later this year anyway.
-
You're totally right!
When I was in school to educate for web development, I had this great idea that I wanted.
I found out, that I needed to learn web sockets and do things in real-time on multiple computers.
At that time, I didn't know anything about web sockets, barely knew how it actually worked.
Then 1 year later, I thought, why not get this thing done and up and running. I did the whole project in a weekend and it actually worked like it should and how I first imagined it work.
I got really happy afterwards, because it showed me what I've learned and how I'm getting better. -
I got the same issue with GTA V a few years back, since that my name contained é. It was a hell and after that I don't use any special characters in computer names or something similar again. Pain in the fucking ass and mostly the errors doesn't tell you that it's the reason.

How?
-
@ChainsawBaby I would've backed it up if I new it'll update. My MacBook was running slow and I thought I would restart it and then it started updating. But everything I have on it, is in the cloud too, so I wouldn't loose anything.
-
@Eversor it's really weird but happy that it worked. Apple made something wrong since its breaking everything like that.
-
Funny, same happened with me. It crashed everyone until I turned it off for a few hours and back on without problem. Now though because of that shirty update, displaylink doesn't work and I can't connect my dock for multiple screens...
Also welcome to devrant ☺️ -
@gitpush I do also teach her :) But she should have that knowledge already from her school. I hope it's just because she haven't been coding in a long time and it'll get better.
I try my best to be positive and go through the code with her and also learn her the stuff she's failing at in hope she'll learn at least something from me :P -
She tried to get the users information at the login page, but before we even validated it and actually got the data. Right over the line where we validate and store the users information, she tried to get something from that variable.
Have no idea on how that happened, but I think that should be really basic to read the code and see that it doesn't work in that order. -
@ThatDude yea, it's danish 😊
-
It really depends on which part of the world it's in. In Denmark, it's "easy" to earn 6 figures salary, but converted to USD, it's only 5 and maybe really far away from 6 figures.

@lotd DSB ftw 😀
-
Thanks for the comment everyone! 😀
I was lucky this time, I used a few new code in Javascript, that made my whole page crashing. But again, I was also curious about what other were thinking on the subject.
I did set my limit to IE 11, older versions isn't supported and nearly not used by anyone. Though I can't cut it totally since some of our customers are using that shitty browser. -
I've just started using my MacBook pro from 2012 again after some screen issues. Works like a charm and have no problems at all with the programs.
-
Thanks for the answers everyone :)
I think I might learn more about NodeJS and then learn C#. -
@TV4ELP @iNCEPTiON Thanks for the answer :)
I'll try it out and hope for the best.
Though, can you recommend any place to start? -
@iNCEPTiON that's what I thought yea. And I hope that since I know other languages as well, then it will be a little bit easier to learn - hopefully :P
-
@divil I'm happy that I'm the only developer in the company, I don't have to think about those things 😀
-
My view while I have worked all week ☺️
-
Trying to set up docker but can't figure out how to get an apache2 up and running with an open port. Thought it would be easy 😁
-
@liammartens Hrm okay. I'll look at it and hope it'll work on windows. Unfortunately I can't install ubuntu on my work computer :/
-
@liammartens @WerewolfCustoms i have heard about docker, but is it easy to run (on windows). Have only heard good things about it, but haven't had the time to look into it yet.
Have used vagrant before and was thinking using that, but wanted to hear what other developers use 😊 -
@MaxDeepfield have about 4 private projects that I don't have much time to work on 😕
-
@Cube189 haha door holder xD it could be possible, it's a fat and heavy laptop.
I have thought about trying different Linux OS. Also voice recognition could be awesome!
Thanks for the answers so far! -
Danish: Hej Verden
-
I'm playing it regularly. Have used so many hours in that game through my whole childhood.
-
I'm self-learned too. Though I'm nearly finishing an education where I already knew everything, so it's definitely possible. Have worked freelance for the last 4 years 😊
-
Thanks for the answers! I will definitely check mariadb and mongodb out, when I can figure out how to configure on my server 🤔
-
@viking8 why not mysql, what's the benefit with the other ones that you use?
-
@W1ckeD seriously? What programming language are you using?
