I have used the previous version of this script on a couple machines and everything's nice and disabled for months now
-
Hmm.... Seems to me like disabling Windows updates would solve all your problems...

Always give a range :)

4th doctor forever!!
Would you like a jelly baby?? -
I hate python too I don't discriminate :P
-
@electrineer hah awesome :P I have the 5920g and 5935g both have been amazing other than normal body wear and tear that I never cared about
-
@Jakuho got 2 and both have had fewer issues than my Mac :) Never understood why Acer got a bad rep
-
P.S. I suggest using just one of the cards for Linux with Nvidia profiles... I don't see this issue being resolved anytime soon
-
Sucks on Windows too :)
Specifically the syncing between the 2 gpus that adds lag when you run multiple screens.
HDMI port is wired on Nvidia and the USB c port is wired on the Intel on my Alienware.
The more fucked up thing is that there isn't really such a tangible difference unless you're running CUDA for example which will use up a lot of gpu resources so you can use the Intel for everything else while its running -
What a great way to ensure working through the new year :P
Good luck! -
All the ++ :P
Ho ho ho! -
Burn it. Burn it with fire.

Yay another member thats here to argue/troll over OS/languages.
How original :)
I love how Java gets the most hate...
Did you write this on your Android phone by any chance? -
@ganjaman all the ++
-
@OldN00b uhm... In Greece right now you have to pay 70% of what you make as a freelancer in taxes... And also prepay the next year's taxes based on the current year's income...
Sound good? :D -
@Fast-Nop to clarify: there is a Dev shortage in my country as most devs have migrated to different countries.
In general there isn't a Dev shortage I agree. Until the next batch of devs is out of school we're short here unfortunately -
@Fast-Nop there is a Dev shortage here actually but that's not sustainable or good for employees/clients...
Eventually it forces us to just not care anymore and code gets worse and worse.
Thats my view anyways -
@Fast-Nop seen quite a few people jump ship this month... For obvious reasons Im not naming the company ^^
-
@Fast-Nop but if you don't take care of your employees who's gonna take care of the clients? ;)
-
@bittersweet it was intended as a joke not a trigger :)
-
There's only one Linux.
Now if you mean which GNU/Linux distribution... :D
I'm so bad I know ;)) -
Hang on! Does github have a dark mode????
WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME THIS!!!
Been living like a peasant so long!!! -
Imagine being a robot and reading the sign accidentally :P
-
How about by wearing a hoodie??

@Stuxnet Windows 10.
I'm talking about their new mechanism that auto reboots to update when the PC is idle (in it's own opinion that is). That also has a time limit if I remember correctly so it will restart within 1 day I think.
So if you want to leave it running through the night (for a server or any reason) you can't without doing what I wrote above.
Another issue although not with Windows themselves are some driver incompatibilities that cause issues on some updates which is a reason to defer updates till the weekend for example.
P.S. I know they let you defer updates but there are limits for "security" updates which will be applied anyway. -
Pro tip #13:
Turn off all telemetry through disabling services and group policy magic.
Pro tip #14:
If you don't game or write documents (locally that is) use any Linux instead of Windows :P
:))) -
Personally I don't complain much about OS and tools anymore....
But...
However....
Although....
Having the computer force update whenever it wants to is the work of the Dalai Lama of idiots!!! The only way to turn those off is through group policy, regedit AND disabling the update notification rights to execute. No ordinary user will do that.
I think that part is unforgivable. Especially since there are people using Windows for work.
BTW -> I use Linux, Windows and macos -
Good time for a 3d printer?? ;)
-
I would ask for a private office :P

@SteffTek do keep in mind ofc that Ubuntu upgrades have always had some issues (if you upgraded from a previous Ubuntu version)
