@missingmarshall the fact that they spark interest is great. I for one think there are too few people in the software industry.
However I get mad when these tutorials pretend that learning to program is a matter of a couple of hours of tutorials. In my opinion that leads to poor quality software and lower salaries across the industry. -
@tkdmatze @missingmarshall
Of course nobody would try to teach every programming language in 15 minutes - THAT'S THE POINT OF THE JOKE -
@C0D4 I wonder why this only happens with programming.
You don't see "learn brain surgery while doing the dishes" or "nuclear engineering in 37 seconds" tutorials -

@TheItalianGuy I feel your pain. I still have nightmares about liceo history tests, with all those dates and territorial acquisitions to memorise (how do you even spell Schleswig-Holstein?!).
Keep fighting! When the finals actually came, the external examiner was much more interested in individual opinions and reasoning, which turned the tables. I averaged 7/10 and got 15/15, while a straight-ten friend of mine barely passed.
Memorising things might reward you in the short term, but in my personal experience "knots reach the comb" eventually 😉 -
@ReverendLovejoy Agreeing to something and finding out the terms of the agreement aftwerwards? Doesn't ring any bells.

Just need to try it -
@iam13islucky It is somewhat hands on, but the extent of the work is so little that there is no point in having 6 people do it...
The overhead of team management and version control is larger than the actual amount of work.
Not to mention the clashes you have when everybody is working on the same 3 files...
