@irene The true "Who's on first" of coding.

That moment you realize there was a completely unintentional typo in your post about typos... 🙃

@fermar7 I always did pubic class...
-
@Marl3x At least you figured it out. I didn't understand it till I read @mrDev's comment xD.

Perhaps Parentboard? Spouseboard? NO WAIT I GOT IT. Lady's and gentlemen, may I introduce you to The Humanboard TM.

@musma Do you think Google Home's will be part of the revolution? If so, kindly send reinforcements as we haven't had the best relationship.

Nice setup! I think I have something pretty similar, what kind of keyboard is that? Oh also have you ever had an issue with that monitor? I'm not sure how to explain it other than my monitor had "squiggles" on it lol. I can't fix it but I can tone it down by messing with color settings. It also used to black itself out when opening YouTube videos but I think that has since stopped.

My question is do you have to supply your own equipment? If so, I hear they're coming out with overwatch themed nerf guns.
-
Consistency certainly matters, I like it! Seems like something neat for a standing setup.

StackOverflow? Thats like as old as Instagram, you might as well try to literally iron out the bugs from that relic you refer to as "Wind-ows".

@TirloniC Exactly, just give us a chance and we might prove ourselves worthy of your block-chain AI machine learning big data software development position.
Also welcome to DevRant, may your rants be forever long and insightful with a hint of negativity and a lot of humor. -
@Puddinglord That's a fair point, I've always been pretty frustrated with Siri's lack of functionality compared to other assistants so it is awesome to see them improving her for desktop and I appreciate the continued support. To be honest Mojave has been an overall improvement especially visually and I don't regret installing it. What really bothered me about Mojave is yes they added apps that can't be removed that can be on ios which is always annoying, but more importantly with home that when they did finally release it, for me it felt incomplete as the mac is currently the only apple product that I own and don't appreciate having essentially a brick forcibly installed on my machine. If I could use the app in some way it would be a different story, but in this case I feel locked out of what I hear is rather neat functionality.

Also just noticed that the bar at the top with time an everything (status bar?) is transparent in the lock screen. I really want that...
-
To be honest I'm not sure that's typical behavior as I updated yesterday and it kept the wallpaper I had on High Sierra.
-
Can we see similar projects? All I really need is an accelerate time app to speed through compiling.

Is it limited to bagels? Do people put cookies in there? Are those what people mean by cookies?

Read your post and got reminded of how my PC sometimes just randomly shuts off shortly after boot. It's an old laptop and the battery is all but dead so it wouldn't shock me in the slightest that it's simply a battery problem. It's just sad/depressing that I could even consider that it's Microsoft trying to push an update...

@muliyul if I also ++ a comment that references a comment that references R&M can we get infinite likes? Recursion+++++++....

This individual seems alright, it's probibly a good offer.

I apologize, I think the original intent was lost somewhere in the message. I think my frustration towards my family may have clouded exactly what I was trying to say in that original post. I understand that my device wasn't a flagship and it's not really fair to compare the two for reasons such as price, hardware, and of course updates. To be honest, I wasn't too worried about price as they seem to all be relatively close so If I have to spend a couple hundred on one or the other when I do go to buy a new phone I don't mind. I was trying to focus more on the comparison of longevity between the two platforms. I'm not all that familiar with iOS devices but I've heard they get updates for a reasonable period. How do recent android flagships compare as far as software updates go and how long do the manufacturers typically support them?
-
@undef That's true, from all my experience trying other assistants (which admittedly isn't much past Siri) Google assistant undoubtedly understands me way more often than others.
-
@beggarboy Wise words, I appreciate it!
-
@AleCx04 Fair enough, my frustration probably has a lot to do with what I'm kinda forced to use. Quick example is the use of character pointers as apposed to strings.

@tokumei Haven't taken a look at rust before honestly, but it sounds like im in a similar situation. Ive always been a mobile dev (hell I was initially taught on Java to build apps) so I've primarily used Java, Kotlin, and now Dart for flutter (really enjoying flutter so far) so to go to something like c++ feels like I've travelled backwards in time. Sadly I still have one more semester with the language (which will more than likely be disastrous on more complex concepts) but after that it's java :D
-
@tokumei I agree, personally I'm not a big fan of c++ as you may already be able to tell. I'm unfortunately forced to use it for one of my college courses so it didn't make much sense to go with another language.
