Not a specifically dev related story, but absolutely rant worthy.

Today I was working from home, and my wife called me to tell me that some awful person had thrown a young cat into the dumpster at her work.

To that person - you are a scumbag. You’re lucky no one left you alone in a hot car as a kid, let alone a dumpster. Seriously, why? Why is it so hard to take it to a shelter?

Anyway - I went and bought a whole bunch of cat stuff - I grew up with cats but I’ve never had one on my own. We’re at the vet now. I think we’ll name her Curry (after Haskell Curry, and lovely spicy dishes).

A critical vulnerability was detected in Electron and I urge all the devRantron users to update their app manually.

Please go to https://www.devrantron.com get the latest version which has the necessary patches.

Due to a request, we added compact mode in the app, which can be used to view a distraction-free mode of the UI. Notifications screen is a little bit more readable now. The read notifications are now greyed out.

Again, the auto update will not work for this version. Please manually update as soon as possible.

I go to college online and I'll admit I'm a little annoyed that my Web Dev professor makes us code using notepad and doesn't allow IDE's. I get the point but it's obnoxious, this isn't 2003.

I was born 02 so I've always had computers around me but I'll tell you guys the story of how I got my first PC.

So my mom was still in collage and she had an old Dell laptop. My younger brother was about 3 months at the time so he puked a bit on the keyboard which made the C and X keys stop working (which was bad since she was writing her finals).

Therefore I got her old laptop when she bought a new one. At first I just messed around in paint since I was about 5 but after about a year my cousins dad introduced me to programming which fascinated me so I picked up Python and I've been coding ever since ✌️

Mistakenly executed 'sudo chmod 0 /usr/bin/sudo' on computer lab's Ubuntu 12.04 system.
Now each time I type sudo, permission is being denied. FML.

I really hate when I have to go to a colleuges desk to help when they need some troubleshooting . It is not because I don't want to help. It is just because of their light themed IDE.

Using Oracle 10g for our distributed databases practical lab session, and typed many SQL queries in one sheet.
Suddenly this guy came and told shortcut 'ctrl + r' to quickly run selected query.
And the page fucking reloaded and boom, all queries were gone! His evil laugh was more disturbing. 😡😡
Fuck him.

We're quite keen on you so we'll definitely call you...
That call never came so I made a follow up and I got a considering the current size of the company we not quite ready to have another dev
