What kind of eccentricities do you specifically mean?
I'm someone who's a lot more pro-than-con SJW, so perhaps such a CoC wouldn't be in my interest, but I might be able to provide input still. -
It's noon and I'm reading this in bed. You can guess.
-
i -= --i evaluates to i = 1 strangely enough. i'd imagine it evaluate to 0.
-
@NoToJavaScript That's fair. DPI scaling is still nowhere near where it should be unfortunately.
-
@torbuntu Hey look, I know it's not the prettiest, fastest, cleanest. But I'll damn well have you kn-
:(
Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you. (0% complete) -
You don't need to tell them. Mental situations are just the same as physical situations. You can call in sick if you need the day off, and they don't have the right to know what kind of condition you have that causes you to be sick (unless it's for prolonged durations, but considering you're talking about one day, you're completely in the clear).
If it's a longer standing condition, you might have to explain the situation in some way. If you've got decent people working there, they will want to see you back on your feet ASAP and making money for them again, and they will reach out to you if you need the support. -
@NoToJavaScript I agree on the ReSharper part. It pretty much doubled my VS2019 cold boot (and Rider really is in the same spot regarding that), plus ReSharper would cause crashes constantly, over multiple installations and OS wipes.
However, IDEA is awesome for multilanguage shit, and Rider is nowhere near as gimmicky as ReSharper alone is. Plus, when you work in Unity, Rider just offers so many nice things. I love it. -
Hands where I can see them 🔫
This is now a Windows thread
( I am actually not too uncomfortable with default Windows settings, 2019 LTSC + ShutUp10. Plus I know I won't stop tinkering on a fresh Linux install, hurting my productivity ) -
If you don't want people to pronounce the "js" part, it shouldn't be in your name.
-
@heyheni I've made the attempt before, only to be met with a swift RTFM
-
Ah yes, good old O(∞).

@nitwhiz +=1

And then there is Noto font, which is short for No tofu.
Would be nice if we could have one description mean one thing only. -
@witcher Sounds great. Just be careful about things regarding copyright. I don't reckon every tutorial creator would be keen on you translating their tutorial, paid or not.
-
@RedPolygon TIL. That's actually pretty cool for dyslexics.
Font is still ugly as sin though. -
@LlamaMan Figures.

I've been unfathomably lucky with my drives so far. I've got SSDs that are still kicking after a good 7 years of use, several OS overwrites on it each year. I would've guessed the chips would have given the ghost by now, but nope.
Knocking on wood though, I'll jinx myself in no time with this kind of thought process. -
Every day is JavaScript hate day.
-
I used to like those things.
Then I forgot to flush one for a day and the entire rubber ring just molded and disintegrated.
So I bought another and was careful to rinse it every day.
Until it leaked in my bag. -
It also gets you to walk around a bit more if it's in the kitchen, which is a blessing in this sedentary line of work.
-
@BoomRaccoon I really, really did not want or need an idea.🤢

So glad to be Dutch. We barely have these fuckers around and I don't have to worry about such things.
I'd probably have a complete meltdown. -
@LuckierDodge University is regarded as a higher level. Most focus is put on academic research, whereas a college is really about learning the skills required to do a job.
You can do a bachelors or a masters at a college and a masters or a PhD at a university. -
@LuckierDodge I'm divided on this.
You can program whatever the hell you want on incredibly cheap devices (think Pinebook, Rasp). Is this ideal? Not really. Any kind of graphical development is dead in the water unless you really want to learn OGL's static pipeline for software rendering.
But in terms of preparation for university (which is what OP is about, not college), I think there is some basis you need. That basis is why you would be admitted to a university-grade course over a college-grade course. That's how it is over in the Netherlands, at least. -
@Codex404 Unfortunately, yes. It would take up one row regardless of what you did. Although someone did maintain an extension to hide it for a while.

[..to prevent help vampires making the answerers turn away from the communities, low-quality questions and answers are blocked. This includes posts from:
users who can't be bothered to form sentences
users who don't do the most basic kinds of research themselves
users who barely even explain what it is they are trying to do

SO might've just roasted you for asking dumb things. -
@netikras Not sure to be honest. Would you dare try it out?

In my first year I had someone call C#, without flinching or smirking, "C Waffle". He insisted that was right.
Then again, our Java tutor misspelled "void" as "voit" everywhere, wondered why his shit didn't compile and got fired after the second period.
And now we're working with service layers, generics and APIs and I'm serving as another teacher at this point. -
Is it at 4k60? Is it possible that windows tried to serve 4k60 over an outdated HDMI spec (1.4 or less) and that Linux worked because it set a different displaymode such as 4k30, 2.5k60? Or maybe even that your system has a 2.0 port?
Nevermind, you should probably not let them know. This toy is yours now. -
Oh dear. Didn't gparted notify you about the mounted partitions?
