The only person responsible for the server maintenance has put in his resignation period in.
The other person that has access to the servers does not know the difference between production & lab.
Fun times ahead14 -
Who’s going to tell LinkedIn that I’m not interested in the garbage my coworkers post on their platform?1
-
did you ever have to maintain a code that is so bad that it makes you physically ill to look at it? i feel like I've seen an eldritch horror16
-
I find it really embarrassing how Twitter, whose mission was to give voice to those who are not heard, has become a puppet in the hands of a CEO who overnight changes the codebase to influence the crypto market for his own ends.3

The pointless life of a prophet is such:
In 2012 when everyone was wondering if nibiru was gonna knock us off orbit or bring the Anunnaki to our door with evictions notices, I was wondering if New York City boroughs are going to float off into the ocean in eight years…. (I know that sounds incredibly specific at the same time isolated and random, but my sources are as most conspiracy theorists sources; YouTube and random…) and yet… wrong again…Covid…
Waaaiit… 🤔🤨😅don’t think about anymore connections. -
everyone was doing clients.. so it was my turn.

I hate the current state of the web.13 -
Anyone else think the emphasis on scaling is misplaced?
I think we can have more innovative products that solve real problems in specific ways if people focused on solving specific problems rather than targeting wider audience in attempt to sell to as many as possible.24 -
I started to contribute to open source again to improve as a dev and to break away from web stuff, on top of that I want to improve my professional imagine with a rebuilt personal website, decent LinkedIn posting and a more curated GH profile (starting from the name, I’ll replace the childish “edgy” name I’m using with actual name + surname).
The only issue I have is that on my current GH profile there are a couple of issue on random OSS projects which I offered to fix but then I’ve not maintained the promise for mental health or work issues which deprived me of any willpower towards evening programming. Do you think it’s better for me to create a new profile to get rid of these or I can still use my current profile without risking significant reputation damage?2 -
I hate office politics so fucking much. Now that most people aren’t face to face and everything is over chat and voice calls, people seem to get very weird about things that might be said and blow things out of context. If you have anxiety disorder or something fuck off!! You’re stressing the shit out of me and it’s already Christmas so I’m already stressed the fuck out!4

Worst: Getting fired for talking too much shit about how the higher ups don’t know how to run a company.
Best: Getting hired at a way less stressful job that pays 50% more and realizing the last place was toxic as fuck.9 -
the main issues for DevOps seems to be environment variables.
Cuz thats what they always talk about. I mean.2 -
I finally got my new home server.
A Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q in one of the higher configurations.
Any ideas what top level OS I should put on it?
ATM, I'm thinking Proxmox, ESX or Alpine.
I like proxmox because of the neat UI for everything but I'm kinda worried about how it basically takes the most important parts of the system over.
I like Alpine since I already use it for quite a while as my goto server OS and because of AWALL, which IMHO is the best linux server firewall.
I didn't get to evaluate ESX yet.6 -
In some unpredictable turn of events, ignoring my PR for 6 months will cause said code to not be aligned anymore with develop.
And it gets wilder: if you reject my PR for this retarded bullshit, I may not react in the civilest of ways.2 -
Thinking about perhaps doing a Linux From Scratch. Never done anything like it but feels like it would be a good way to learn more about how Linux actually works. Do you think it's a good idea for someone like me with an ok understanding of Linux but only on a "user level", or should I start somewhere else?9
