@iosdev13 interesting. From a distance it seems quite a bit more complicated. Certainly should take the time to enjoy learning the basic syntax and take it from there. I love how it's open source and they seem to be taking the community suggestions very seriously.

I suggest making a very basic prototype in HTML without any PHP functionality, show her it and say "when you do this this will happen" (even taking her to another static page if needs be). Sometimes clients need to be hand fed every single step of the way - it's easy to forget how far the distance between programmers and non-programmers can get. Think of it as you being clever, not them being dumb ;)

Morale of the story: never use w3schools 😏

It took me at least 3 tries to get in to it. At first I really couldn't see what the fuss was about.

Now I'm one of those idiots who gets ultra excited for each episode. It really is a high quality programme, if you can get past the first 4 or 5 episodes.

Ah, SQL can be great fun for line length! One of the reasons I love ORM packages :)

I'm not sure why, but poorly written APIs anger me even more than poorly written code you inherit. And poor documentation (i.e. <SomeField>string</SomeField> with no description of what it can or can't contain, what its point is or example data!) is just as infuriating!

The 80 character limit mainly seems opinion based, but you may find that it depends more on if you're sharing code with a team. Look to see if there are standards for your language, team or projects that you want to contribute to and use that as a basis.

Ultimately, besides that, if it works for you, do it, and worry more about the actual code :)
