@Demolishun it's done this way because we're using out of the box solutions with this system and the client is allergic to customization, ie, custom code.
I did however make the suggestion to minor optimize how we do it, but the problem still exists until we can use code to do it in a single run -
@Demolishun limitation by the system.
Imagine we have two lists and we are comparing each item in list A to each item in list B.
Every release comes with us adding more to both lists.
So you multiply the size of list a to the size of list B, then multiplay that based on how long it takes to do the comparison and you see how long it takes to do them all.
I suggested using custom code to replace that, as well as every other replicable thing we do here to lower how CPU intensive it was and got shot down.
Over the last week, the size of list B has doubled and that forced us into a situation where if the size of list a is 15 or higher, we use our limit of CPU time for this function and it fails. -
@CoreFusionX Honestly the only reason I'm still with them.
Free time as I'm held to their working standards vs dealing with their idiocy -
@Lensflare They'll be working for awhile whereas a decent dev will have more free time.
I got replaced by someone like this in my last team because I was considered "Unproductive" as I had lots of free time, as I finished the work too quickly.
Now I feel forced to intentionally lag my work just to "appear" busy.
Thank God I work from home -
@Hazarth buddy xD This is 1 day of many. Just glad I'm back in my original team. Once the bug fixing period ends I won't be babysitting anymore

@PonySlaystation Customer hires from different companies. Most of the devs are from an Indian company where the skill level greatly varies.
So, I can't say or do anything. -
@Demolishun No, just me saying it in the most understandable way.
We use Salesforce, and so use the data types provided.
And yes, there are inefficiencies due to the customer not wanting custom code -
@Hazarth templates in particular are a bit backwards. Mine as an example.
I have 10 tables, let's assume each table contains 1 unique product.
When I generate this document, using native components the only option available is to loop through the list of items in your cart and check what each one is... But I do this loop once for every table, and I can't remove items from the list.
10 tables means (NoOfProducts * NoOfTables) * processing speed is how long one aspect of this generation takes.
There are many things that get overdone, or the same function that runs on every item.
I suggested using a tiny bit of custom code to not only relieve us of repetitive work, but to speed up generation time.
I was told the above, client won't approve custom code. -
@TrevorTheRat I could be content to it, given the overall simplicity. I'm just worried that 1 the level of technical stuff for the new job may be too much for me, as I've never gone to that field in the past and 2 if a problem occurs, I'll be too specialised and may have issues finding work

@asgs I am asking a serious question. This is a big decision. If I stay where I am, I know whereabouts the future will go, and I'm fine with it, outside if the fact that the work is mundane and very boring.
On the other hand, I'm not sure what difficulties or future options are available if I switch. I have no idea if the prospects are good and wantec some advice -
@cho-uc I'm not picky. Ive been searching for anything at this point. Anything tech related. No luck on the front end side

They generally don't give any feedback. One agency helped me work on my CV and portfio but that's it thus far.
-
@Demolishun done that a few times. Ignored by most, phone interviews don't lead to anything and the only interview I have is gonna cost me £100 travel with no reimbursement

Boolean logic for you
-
I did. They dont want to "waste" time doing so. Happened several times.
Sometimes a simple solution is to make use of literals, instead of refactoring or using literals, theyd rather have several try catches embedded within each other knowing they will be catching 90% of the code -
I'll be honest, I don't care enough anymore. Given up any hope on getting an answer

I types the question number. Just copy and paste that to stackoverflow.com/questions

Filterpredicate is given filter, child versions of filter have extra validation if necessary. Boss wants that final piece to be a function in it's own right.

Metal generally, but I often listen to the Miracle of Sound playlist. Give it a YouTube, I recommend it

@hash-table I appreciate the link. Was a good read. My only issue is the lack of an explanation about how I can use the api, as the page is currently incomplete :( I will look into that further.

Was on a dating site once. Got asked what I do / study, said programming and their response was "Oh, like every other guy on the internet. "
