On Thursday, May 20, 2088 9:55:59 PM, my life will be complete: Unix Epoch time will equal 0xdeadbeef.

I was assigned a ticket which was about a drop down menu which was not aligning properly.

Turns out the drop-down was positioned absolutely and my co-worker (read bestie) had written media query for every 10 pixels to match the position for mobile and desktop devices (from 320px to 1040px and beyond ~150 lines for a drop-down). No one noticed any flaw for few weeks until one of the QA had to check the site in landscape mode on mobile device.

I replaced it with 4 lines of JavaScript.

So today I decided to switch to angular 4(material) on a project I had done. I have to say I am shocked by the sheer size of the node modules dependencies I have to install. Why wouldn't they just ship it all in one package. 😤 I had to install the client, material SDK, animations etc and all this is happening over shit sub-saharan Africa internet speed. I have been setting up for the past 5 hours and I'm only halfway through. If anyone reading this rant has a company that works to bring internet to Africa please hurry. We need you.

Anybody here who does mobile development(Android or IOS) (not Windows) without using native languages like Java, Swift or objective-C and is able to get the performance like of those on heavy resource using apps?

I got board and decided to make a weather app.

I have designed everything except the font which is Open Sans.

The app will be created on Electron and will be my first entry into that world.

It is currently in the design phase but thought it might be nice to share it's development with you guys.

Well it's a whole ritual, first it must be past 23 hrs, then an interesting project, an Spotify (trance/edm/electro/rap) playlist, and a quiet house and then everything falls into place and the code starts flowing down from my head and heart to my hands. That moment is so sacred that not even hunger interrupts it.

Somebody else like me? Waiting for that beautifully crafted rant/meme/pic/joke that will bring me a stress ball.
