Before going off and trying to write a completely new shell from scratch, I'd recommend taking a look at something like Oil Shell (https://oilshell.org).
On another note, there's one feature of shell scripting that I haven't seen mentioned yet (unless I missed it, which is possible) that I find extremely useful: everything is a string. Given how much stuff I need to interact with (paths, file names, configs, logs) is all plain text strings, having the default type in a language being the string is incredibly useful. -
@magicMirror I don't know about you, but I don't know any way to calculate primes efficiently enough that this would run fast for large-value numbers.

My face looks like it just got bashed in.
-
@linuxxx I should also clarify: tig is just for viewing branching and commit history. You'll still have to handle committing and pushing, etc. yourself.
-
@linuxxx see my above comment
I know tig is available in Debian and Ubuntu packages, so it's probably in everything else too. -
As an alternative to all the suggestions to use a GUI client, I'm going to recommend the program tig. It's small, it's fast, it runs in the terminal, and it is a lot nicer than git log for browsing commits and branches.

@kenogo I was deliberately trying to write abominations in this case. Normally I have a bunch of debugging, string formatting, and casting macros that make things easier when there are lots of nested structs that require void * pointers.
-
@TCPizza lol it's fine. Just happened to notice because I've been creating a lot of macro abominations in C recently.
-
Shouldn't the emoji come first and then the word?
#define 🦈 void
Etc. -
If you want something truly time-consuming, forget installing Arch. Install Gentoo. Their install guide is the single best piece of technical documentation I have ever read. Expect to take several hours. Do it on a virtual machine so it doesn't matter when you mess up.

Best way to show someone you're deliberately ignoring them is to put in headphones, and then when they come try to talk to you, show them the unplugged end and glare at them until they get the point.

@tachoknight ah well. Thanks for trying!
-
@tachoknight any update?
-
@tachoknight cool, thanks. The reason I ask is that I know someone who was directly involved in the development of the processor inside those things.
-
@tachoknight would you by chance be looking for a new home for them where they'd still be used? I might know someone who would be interested.
-
@tachoknight what model are they?
-
Do they still work?
-
Long exposure... That explains why your reflection has four hands. I was wondering about that.

Or you could run this several times at once:
yes > /dev/null -
It's a simple fix. You should have said "Arch GNU/Linux." That would *definitely* fix it. 😎

There needs to be more love for ZZ.

@karma oh right forgot about that one. Classic.

@karma can confirm the name "monorail mode," my cat did this so much I would not have been surprised at all to see him traveling along a track.

Normally what this means is that AMD designed the graphics card and then sold the design to one or more retailers. Those retailers then produce their own cards which are sometimes slightly renamed, factory overclocked, etc.
TLD,DR: it's probably an AMD card made by someone who licensed the design. -
But just think, that leaves room to add a handle!
...aaaand we're back in the 90s. -
