Definitely not a prank.
-
@Condor Seeing as how people like you are routinely weeded out, I think you're confusing the meaning of the word "majority"
-
Sounds like a shit load of stereotypes about gender roles.
You are going to bitch and whine all the way until you're finally faced with the reality that people are in favor of the "intoxication" of diversity and parity. -
Looks good. I've been into pastel colors for my keyboard and desk stuff as of late. Got sick of all the black and red
-
People hate it because others are building great things with it in all levels of the stack.
Haters gonna hate. But you'll still be cashing that paycheck as a JS Dev ;) -
All you have to do is ditch Java
-
@OPM46 If you know that a junior dev makes less than you and you do more, you have all the rights to ask for more.
Otherwise look for other opportunities -
Ask for a raise or look for another job.

@karasube Prove that companies usually make decisions with their bottom line in mind?
Let's see. Take Nike for example. People went nuts when they signed Kaepernick and thought for sure that they would go bankrupt because "the majority" of Americans would shun them.
Guess what? They made money out of it.
Target. People went crazy when they mixed their toys up and got rid of gender labels. Thought those crazy SJW just finished them off.
Guess what? They are doing well and just posted good numbers.
I mean, do I really need to go any deeper than that?
What facts did he state anyways? Those numbers about trans people that didn't take the context and external connections into consideration?
Please, like I said before. You're free to keep reassuring yourselves. It's just funny to me that every time one of you actually puts your name to your thoughts you're sent packing and you wonder why. -
@Npstr Well since most developers have to work with others, it's pretty clear that shit comes into play. And guess what? We aren't all white or male.
-
@Stuxnet Lol. You think these million dollar companies make decisions like that in a fucking vacuum?
They make them because most of the time they will lose money. Why? Because the majority of people, clients, devs around the world will probably find it offensive as well.
Sorry to burst your bubble. But you're in the minority. -
@Stuxnet Interesting. So, you're suggesting that you have to belong to a particular group in order to have empathy?
Seeing as how the majority of OSS and the dev community at large seems to be okay with the way things are shaking out, seems to me like the minority group are those that huddle in their own little space and validate each other's unproven claims. -
@Stuxnet I don't understand why people think they're the majority. Are you?
Do you know this for a fact or is it all in the bubble you work in? -
I ended up with Plasma after doing the DIY stuff with OpenBox and i3. Eventually I got tired of all the tinkering to even get my damn fonts to look good.
Switched to plasma and never looked back. -
I like the desk. I have the same color bamboo
-
@SukMikeHok We can't all be awesome.
Thanks for taking one for the team -
I wouldn't recommend running arch on a server at work or anything. That's just crazy lol
I have to say that over the last five years I've only twice had issues with updates and they weren't major. Stability has been fine for me.
Boils down to what stacks you run on I guess and I use it more like a PC and not a long running server running various daemons and shit. -
I've been stepping completely away from work once I'm home. Been liberating. A few months ago my 2.5 year old came into my room wanting to tell me about his day at 730PM and I got upset at him for interrupting me, I was in the middle of working out some issue with istio or someshit.
Anyways, the look he gave me when I snapped at him(not too bad, a "what Leo?! WHAT?!") is forever going to be in my soul.
Since then I just stopped working at 4-4:30 and any issues that may arise wait until my kids and wife are in bed. It was a bit hard at first, but I just turned down the noise. Disabled slack from my phone and told people if they really need me to CALL me. And you know us devs would rather die than call someone.
I feel good. I do. And I think you'll find it rewarding as well. -
I would probably get better whiskey bc of all the 💰 I make writing JavaScript
-
I've been an arch user for about 5 years now. Started out wanting to be ultra configuration heavy with Openbox, then moved on to i3 and that other one.
Then I moved onto KDE after I've had enough of trying to figure out how to make font look nice. I still run i3 though when I'm working every now and then.
The community is helpful. Can be rude, but I've found it helpful. Of course, that just means having to do a bit of digging yourself when you run into issues. -
Might be stupid. But if they pay good money I'm in.
-
I love my wife. She's a sexy little latina.
But working together will drive me batshit crazy -
@PrivateGER Nope. I hate it.
-
@PrivateGER Ruby can die a slow death and I want to watch. It's unreasonable hate and guess what, I'm ok with it.
-
@PrivateGER I gave you my reasons. I found it hard to decipher with all it's magic. Wasn't intuitive. And I hated it. Still hate it to this day.
-
@PrivateGER I maintained a Ruby script once. I hated it. I hate it so much.
-
Have you seen Ruby? That my friend, is shit.
-
@DVN-Anakin I agree wholeheartedly. I used to clown on WordPress people. Then I tried doing it.
Respect. -
The answer is Kubernetes. There is nothing to debate.
-
That's awesome man. Your sister loves the hell out of you!
