I use Atom but I've started playing around in VS Code and have been really impressed so far.

I pretty much followed what @bittersweet said. I worked my butt off and studied/wrote code every night I also got a job with the organization in a different IT position to get my foot in the door and then worked hard to stand out. Then I met with every developer on the team long before a position opened up and asked them what I needed to study to be an ideal candidate. They were awesome and more than willing to share their knowledge @Razzmatazz

I've been thinking about using html/canvas with js and electron to build a 2d game that'll run cross platform. Just starting with electron so I'm not sure how feasible it is.

I did this once while trying to populate the page with data from the database. I shutdown, called it a day and went and had a beer. That helped.

Marnsghol you make a valid point, stackoverflow can be a bit polarizing at times depending on who you interact with but can be a great place to gain knowledge.

I am still a novice with css but I'm really interested in SASS. How fluent in css do you guys think I should be before trying it out?

For all the stereotypes people create about programmers, including social awkwardness and being a bunch of arrogant trolls, as a new developer I have never found a more welcoming and supportive community.

I agree about the animation timing but overall it is minimalistic and impressive. Good stuff!
