So 20 years ago people were laughing about the reviews on Amazon for sugarless gummy bears. I decided to check to see if anything in that regard has changed. I selected two brands to look at reviews. Both brands in the first few reviews had a great amount of entertaining reviews. I was reminded once again of how despite people having issues with them for over 20 years that they continue to sell.
This just reminds me of why products that are seemingly broken still have a market. Its not just our industry. Its all industries. -
Embedded is so fun...
You get to use Code Composer from TI...
How do you add "system" variables and not break your project when someone else downloads it from the repo?
Edit the .cproject file.
TI: Please don't edit the .cproject file, but do it to fix this garbage shit mess.1 -
This is a really inspiring recap of Minecraft history. I was disappointed it didn't cover the modding scene. Which is huge and I believe a big part of the success of Minecraft. This narrator is really naive to think Notch is racist. I was really disappointed by that take. Notch refused to go along with the woke crowd (which is cancer). What is funny is the guy claims he had racist tweets. None of the tweets were nonfactual. People want to label hard truths as racist. They are not.
https://youtube.com/watch/...
Fun to watch to see where it came from. My big take away was the CEO of a company he worked for encouraged him to pursue his game. So a non dick CEO helped him go after his project. This in turn made this CEO close to, if not a billionaire himself.
Notch spend 10 years go after something. Which changed gaming forever.1 -
FUCK!!! I have the Minecraft bug right now! I got tired of Cyberpunk and want to automate shit in ATM10! If Minecraft ever gets a really good RPG mod(s) with immersive world gen it will be a killer game. I like open sandbox, but that gets tiring after a while.
One mod I like a lot right now is Modular Routers. Its a fake player on steroids. That combined with resource gen mods is a lot of fun to automate.
I also found a magic mod that lets you build islands in the sky that gets filled with villagers. Seems like a fun thing to play with.
Then there is Apotheosis that helps you build super OP gear. Like a pick axe with fortune 25 on it. -
Some doctor dropped a video online that says 1 egg per week (whole egg) can prevent dementia by like 47%. I guess I need to eat more eggs. Doh!
What I don't get it what the 47% actually means. Is this a chance of a person getting something in a population? So lets say the chance of dementia is 10%. Does that mean eating an egg will reduce this chance to 6.3?10 -
So I thought up a game for work.
I am calling it: "Head, Rear, or Other"
When you hear a random noise at work that sounds organic you can classify it as:
1. Head - a noise that comes out of the head
2. Rear - a noise that comes out of the rear
3. Other - unknown or unspecified noise source
Can be combos if need. Such as "Head or Rear".
So the first thing my coworker did was make motions like he had gas. I said "Head".7 -
These are the scopes of knowing if you are stupid.
1. you know your stupid about some things.
2. there are things you don't know about, or that you are stupid about those things. but you can still conceive about these things as not known and that you may be stupid about them.
3. tailgaters, they don't know they are stupid and they don't have the ability to know they are stupid. also these are the people that took life science instead of physics in high school.joke/meme cake retards ostream was right about cartards okay ostream wasn't i don't know what i am stupid about8 -

Dang I felt like shit today. Gotta cold. Talked to doctor to make sure not strepp. He said I have to go to work tomorrow. I told him I got the wrong doctor then. He laughed. I went to doc because this morning I was wheezing when I exhaled. He said its just gunk in my throat. Lungs are fine.
Went to store for about an hour and felt like horrible shit when I got home. Lame.5 -
Made tortilla pizzas today!
tortilla
pizza sauce
cheddar/Colby shredded cheese
pepperoni
sausage
Parmesan
Baked 7 minutes at 420 F.
Gave me a reason to speak with a Mexican accent and hold my finger likes this 🤌.
My kid who didn't want to try them said it was good. Thumbs up!20 -
ostream, are you visiting the USA?
Some dude in NYC got caught on camera sexually violating a dude that died on the subway.22 -
Tasty quick treat:
1. mushroom (wash remove stem)
2. cheese (stuff into mushroom cavity)
3. microwave (15 to 30 seconds to melt cheese)
4. eat (nom nom nom)
My first go was 2 mushrooms with gouda and blue cheese. Cooked 30 seconds. Was a nice little treat.29 -
What is the difference between an Italian chef and a StackOverflow Programmer? One letter: cut n' pasta vs cut n' paste.3

Was thinking about in game scripting language so people can do "hacking". I figured I would use something like V8 since it has support for sandboxing. But in game I would call it JankyScript/JankScript. That way nobody gets mad about trademark.
I think it would really funny. And JS purists won't get out of whack if I add commands to it.
Which is better: JankyScript or JankScript?
I like them both.15 -
Finally forced myself to play one ending of Cyberpunk. Kinda felt underwhelming with no real impact on the world. All the player's motivations are pretty selfish. Got tired of playing and started playing Minecraft again. ATM10.
ATM10 has shaders and tons of cool mods. Plus rewards for doing basic shit so getting started takes less time. I will see how long before I get bored of Minecraft again.
Been taking tons of notes on gameplay I want, and don't want. I feel like a fun/epic rpg would be great with base and vehicle building.8 -
So today I got to talking about "plane jacking" with a coworker. To me it has always been called hijacking a plane. I have heard of car jacking though. For some reason plane jacking sounded like masturbation in a plane. Don't know why.
Me: So calling it plane jacking is going to lead to someone attempting to join the plane jacking mile high club and having the toilet damage their penis due to sucking.
Coworker: Nobody is long enough to have their penis reach into there...
Me: I am so sorry. I feel bad for you.
Coworker: ...
Me: That was really good wasn't it?
Coworker: Yeah, but I hate it. <laughs>13 -
How much should I be concerned with protecting the OS filesystem from being fragmented by writing large amounts of data to multiple files?
I am using a filesystem that I think is either ext2 or ext3. I need to convert files that might be as large as 1GB to csv. Not sure how big the files will be. Right now the existing conversion code uses fprintf to do every single line of these files (ugh...). I would like to do bulk conversions and then write to disk. I am assuming 8GB of system ram, with probably half that free at any time.
I plan on adding a feature to do bulk conversions (multiple files in sequence). Wondering if I can do these in parallel and write after conversion. So would need to store in ram. Only write one at a time. I feel like this would be better on the filesystem. I was stage writing. If files are large enough I wonder how many I can stage at once. Have not been given an example file yet.
Am I overthinking or should I be treating the filesystem with kit gloves?21 -
For a snack I have a can of Chicken Vienna Sausage and almonds sitting on my desk.
coworker: What are you eating?
me: weenies and nuts
coworker: <pause>
coworker: I always knew you were gay.
coworker: <laughing>
me: How dare you?!
me: <laughing>3 -
So a few years ago I put tootsie rolls on little plates in the bathrooms at work. It took about a week before people started taking the tootsie rolls. I coined this experiment as the "bathroom candy" experiment.
Since it is April 1st I have revived this experiment, but this time I put Hersheys kisses on little plates. It will be an interesting experiment. But I am hoping for the phrase: "Who keeps leaving chocolates in the bathroom?!" or "Why are there Hersheys kisses in the bathroom?"
I expect people to be very wary of the "bathroom candy" this year. lol21 -
Are people still questioning leaving Europe?
I was thinking it would probably be okay in general to stay. But then I see French and Germans are jailing political opponents.
IMO this is a huge red flag. They tried that shit here in the USA and even shot at political opponents. If they had succeeded I wonder if we would be in a civil war.
But Europe doing this concerns me more than Ukraine conflict. This feels like another build up to 1850 in Europe. I dunno, what are your feels over there? I wouldn't want to be in a one party country.25
