I hate working in silence so I always have Netflix in the background. My boss doesn't mind. Anyone else does this?5

When I started working as designer my boss at that time liked to invite people to remote control me, sit or stand behind my neck to explain their will and tell me to do this, "can we try this?", "can it be changed to another color?", "is it possible to move logo to the left?" and all that m*f*cking shit.
It didn't take long before I decided that I wouldnt accept that anymore.
They come with that energy, that illusion of power to play god with your fast mouse...
The first solution was to stand up with them around the chair and tell them I would take notes, then do the changes and mail them. That worked but sometimes it didn't feel right for the boss who got mad and tried to handle the mouse like trying to pretend she was going to do it...
In case the visit was by surprise I used this method, not sitting in worst position. Just recover dignity standing to their commaning stance.
The best and what became the real solution was printing things we needed, receive and guide clients to a meeting room where we would discuss things and take notes on the papers.2 -
Am I the only one who gets extremely nervous the night before an interview as that technical test can encompass the entire academic field of CS. I'm just worried I'll forget the difference between a clustered and non-clustered index or fail to convey the difference between TDD and BDD.
I'm ten years in to my career now, so I 'should' know my stuff. I've produced the tests my self, hired other devs, but I still feel the nerves.8 -
When you have to lock down #general in #slack because people cant be responsible.
Then get stuck making #bs-general and other #bs prefixed channels so that people know if they join them they will be annoyed.4 -
When you read those job ads "Must be able to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines in a busy office etc.."
Who would willingly walk in to such a shitty role. Perhaps if they fired the management things would improve.4 -
Friend: You're good with computers right?
Me: well...yeah why?
Friend: can you have a look at my microwave? something's wrong with it...

Sitting super hot and extremely loud marketing girls next to your entire developer staff is a good way to decrease productivity. not to mention how extremely annoying they can be at times. ugh!!4

When your new feature works (and you installed a new package from Nuget) on your and your co-workers environments. And then you push to the build-QA-server and it breaks...4

when I finally get my code to work, no matter how small, I get up and walk around feeling like a boss4

Stay above petty stuff at work. It can sap time and energy. Not worth it. I have encountered it at so many companies.1
