I'm getting a Spotify vibe from this, I dig it.

Why not just calmly ask for ownership, kindness goes a long way!
-
This pretty much sums up my current goals.
-
I like your das keyboard, would you recommend the brown switches for an office situation?

@AnonymousMooCow Java and Kotlin have interoperable frameworks, but they are two completely separate languages!
-
@AnonymousMooCow Google has already moved to Kotlin for all these libraries, good move on their part.
-
@jhh2450 Right? Imagine having to pay rights to speak English!
-
@jhh2450 basically, Google was wanting to use some Java API for Android that Oracle had created, and since google wants to keep android open source, they went ahead and made their own version of the API and wrote it in java. Oracle sued for copyright infringement on their API and want $9 billion from google. Google won the initial case, but oracle fought back and it will be going back to court soon.
The way it’s been presented to me, it sounds like if they win, Oracle will be able to charge people to program in Java. -
Just finished my first program in C# as a class assignment, pretty slick. 😎

@iKameo what, ‘i’ isn’t enough information for you?

Wasn’t prepared for as technical as it was, although it wasn’t entirely unexpected, things like are you working on any projects, what languages do you know, what’s the complexity of merge sort. Overall the questions were pretty easy to answer and I think it went pretty well!
I was intimidated at the prospect of some of those “why do you want to work here?” Or “where do you see yourself in 5 years?” questions but they seemed to avoid those and really cared about what I know and don’t know.
Overall the interview with great, thank you all for the support! :) -
@Reffins It starts in an hour! Will post an update afterwords. Thanks for the support 🤓

@linuxxx That’s how razer markets them, a “mechanical membrane keyboard” and then they charge the same price as the full mechanical ones. After trying one though, I can see how the tactile clicking mechanism that they put in them could make it feel more mechanical than it really is
-
@kwilliams Look up some buckling spring key switches if you want to hear them BREAK THE SOUND BARRIER
-
@linuxxx They got you :(
Ornata is not even mechanical 😭 -
Teach in scratch, she’ll get it in no time!
-
Sorry, Tab machine broke.

Much like your cat, we are all out to take you down in any way we can.

Works with a guy who only used IE at a web dev company, he worked support for the customers and since he used IE like they did, he already knew about all of their issues beforehand :)

Me: what is C++?
Answer: ‘D’? -
@rockford5281 I’m not sure how far you are along in your education, but I know that for the first bit of my degree, I was surrounded by slackers and people who just wanted to get the class over with. But later on in my education, the classes got smaller, along with the ego, and I just naturally made friends with people who love to learn and care about this field.
-
You should probably tell your friend to change majors! I’m being genuine about this, he won’t make it if he can’t even get basic formatting right, some other study would suit him much better.

Thank god we learned how to write a bubble sort

@brahn I’m in the same corse right now and I’m loving it. It’s the kind of gratification I’ve been needing, I actually find myself wanting to translate these algorithms into code more than I want to do anything else.
This is the stuff I wanted to be doing when I got into CS.
