I resent that isNaN does not actually check if it’s a number before checking if it’s NaN.
But I also get that it’s TECHNICALLY accurate. If you pass something that’s not a number, it is IN FACT, not a number. But it’s not NaN (because it’s actually a string or object or whatever the fuck it is). It’s like the function is testing for something being not a number in the general sense and not testing for it not being a number in the specific sense. It’d almost be better if there was a stupid utility function for isNotANumber that behaved the way isNaN does and that isNaN only returned if something was, in fact, NaN.
It would have been a lot more straightforward if NaN was its own type. -
I think both of my jobs in tech have been the result of networking.
Though I tend to just make friends with people in the industry and not try to form transactional relationships. If a job opportunity results from it down the line, great. If not, it’s not like I’m in it for that. I’m in it for the friendship. -
@CaptainRant You’ll get there. You’ve got this. ❤️
-
Most of the YouTube channels I follow are related to crime. But I also follow random history YouTubers and guntubers and Cambrian Chronicles.
-
That’s why isNaN exists 😂
Though you have to check that it’s a number first or you end up with false positives if you’re dealing with things that can’t be coerced into being numbers. -
Man, I remember when I went to get my name changed and had to get fingerprinted as part of that process and the lady was like “I really don’t know if they’ll accept these. You are definitely losing your fingerprints.”
She had to rub lotion onto my fingers to try to coax them into hydrating enough to give a good print. So if you’re having trouble with your prints, maybe try lotion? I don’t know, mileage may vary. Also apparently (because I asked), some people just naturally don’t retain fingerprints very well.
Me: “Jajaja now I can commit CRIMES”
Husband: “Amy, DNA still exists.”
Me: “Motherf***er. How did I forget about DNA?!” -
Jealous that it tells you the line number changes.
It’s *awesome* when you have Infinity file/line changes. -
I get so overly excited whenever there’s an opportunity to use regular expressions. I actually had a legitimate reason to write regular expressions at work a month or so ago and every standup for a while was like “I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY RIGHT NOW (I AM SO SORRY FOR WHOEVER HAS TO REVIEW THIS PR - I’LL TRY TO COMMENT EXTENSIVELY)”
-
I also got the best present ever!!!
It’s so freaking awesome. -
@kiki Right?! One of my best friends says it looks more like a teenage Chuckette 😂
-
@D-4got10-01 I usually just use “Thanks in advance!”
How much am I an asshole? -
I feel so much rage from such a small sentence fragment. If I were to receive a message like that, I’d probably have to take a walk for a bit to cool down because I would definitely not be able to professionally respond without taking a minute or two.
As the person in our slack instance with probably the most custom emojis, I use emojis a lot in order to convey tone and meaning. But that fucking smile emoji grates on me. And using it that way is smug as hell.
I’m sorry that happened to you. -
@D-4got10-01 It is, in fact, a pig. Good eye!
-
@netikras Meow?
-
@BordedDev I mean, it’s a paint by numbers, so I feel like that’d be a little weird.
“DO YOU WANT THE SATISFACTION OF HAVING A PAINTING FROM A PAINT BY NUMBERS OUTFIT WITHOUT THE HASSLE OF ACTUALLY PUTTING IN THE TIME AND EFFORT? WELL NOW, YOU CAN!”
😂 -
@antigermanist 3 weeks or so?
-
@retoor Not gonna lie, if it was anyone other than you I’d have not clicked the link and assumed it was malicious 😂

I would post a photo if it would let me 😂

It’s not that blurry normally -.-
-
@netikras I have yet to discover a way of crocheting that avoids getting my hair and my cats’ fur embedded into whatever I’m crocheting, so I’m hesitant to even think about selling things.
-
And then this was when I was learning mosaic crochet for the first time and decided to do a whole blanket using the technique to prove I could. Design by Ashlee Brotzell
-
@Demolishun He can eat the bugs and spiders outside! He would not peacefully coexist with my two Maine Coon cats!
-
@lorentz Here’s hoping. I will have to resist the temptation to blurt out “I’m sorry I made your daughter a bloody skin suit with teeth! It was an accident!”
(These are gifts for the kids on the event of the kids’ parents’ wedding lol) -
@lorentz Horrifying. You’re right, though, I picked a very unfortunate color palette

@cafecortado I *thought* it was something like that, but I’m pre-caffeine and ADHD meds and my brain was like “nopenopenope”
-
@retoor Sorry for the scare, friend 😅❤️
