Setting OpenStack up shouldn't be the problem (using DevStack). Maintaining it will be much more painful.
-
Unless you need backlighting, Das Keyboard is most likely the best choice. It's incredibly comfortable and basically indestructible.
-
You are probably too young to understand that.
-
Honestly, $200 is really not that much if you consider how high the entry fees for this type of MLM shit usually are…
-
Elements of a set are by definition distinct. Therefore there cannot be duplicates.
-
I had the exact same problem a few months ago. As far as I remember, Firefox is the only browser (I tested) that does this shit. It requires some very ugly CSS black magic to get rid of.
-
Hannover (or Braunschweig) would be awesome.
-
I'm currently working on a project where the original developers seemed to have had that philosophy. Not even refactoring can fix that abomination.
-
Try to read that regex again tomorrow.

@IllSlapU How exactly are you forced to do any of those things? This is one of those stupid political pictures that abuse the fact that most people won't actually think this through before they share them.
-
Weird. I never hear people talk about them being vegan. However, I often hear people complain about vegans, like you just did. How often has this actually happened to you?
-
@beleg Don't buy an E-ThinkPad. They are horrible. They feel extremely cheap and are, from what I've heard, rather unreliable.
Also, the SSD is basically always worth it. Much faster, more reliable and necessary if you want to get a decent battery life. -
BUT VIDEO GAMES TURNED MY BEST FRIEND'S THIRD COUSIN'S NEIGHBOR'S CAT GAY!!!!!!!!! HOW DARE YOU QUESTION ME???? I KNOW THIS FOR SURE!!!!
-
@unluckyCoder How long does it take your computer to boot Linux?
-
Also, there could be problems that delay the startup of Linux. Which distribution do you use?
-
Many hard drives have varying read speeds depending on the physical location of the data on the disk (outer vs inner area). It's possible that Windows is located in a slightly more favourable location of the hard drive.

@Jacobgc I owned an X1 Carbon (2016 model) and was rather unhappy with it. It feels like they made too many compromises in order to make it so thin. It just lacks the feeling of stability that a ThinkPad should provide.
I recently bought a T470 to replace the X1, because it grew more annoying with each day. I'm much more happy with it than I ever was with the X1 Carbon. -
@linuxxx If you (or your friend) are willing to compromise a little on the security front (meaning a shared kernel), Docker (better yet, Docker Compose) would probably make your life a whole lot easier. Administration is really easy, you save the cost of virtualization and in addition you get a powerful networking model. The security implications should be negligible since all containers are controlled by the same person.
If you really want a virtualization solution, you could have a look at OpenStack via DevStack. That, however, can become really complicated really fast. -
@linuxxx Are the VMs for security or for logical separation (to avoid port conflicts for example)?
-
May I ask what your use case is? What are you using this setup for or what are you planning to do with it?
-
@Kushtrim Java becoming stale? Did you miss Java 8? Streams and lambda expressions fundamentally changed Java's programming model.
-
A Computer Science degree is supposed to prove that you have extensive knowledge regarding Computer SCIENCE. That, by definition, requires knowledge of maths.
-
Right now? ActiveJDBC by JavaLite. Databases in Java have never been easier.
-
Well, docker is always a bit… fuzzy…
-
NullPointerExceptions are almost always caused by shitty code.
-
Only for development? A used Nexus 5 or Nexus 5X would probably offer the most value for the least amount of money.
-
@Kimmax Even though it's not common, there are a few. They are often owned by other corporations to offer financial services to their clients, e.g. the Volkswagen Bank GmbH. As far as I know, they handle mostly leasing and car loans, but I think they also offer more common banking services.
So yes, GmbH banks are uncommon, but they do exist. -
That's actually rather smart. For most people, "GmbH" (German version of a Limited Liability Company) is associated with businesses and being professional. As a relatively new TLD, very few actual companies are using it or at least have bought the .gmbh version of their domain.
That means that scammers, if they are actually buying the domain name they are using, basically have free choice from a pool of reasonably professional looking domains. -
Honestly, most of your questions on SO could easily be resolved by using Google. At least the ones I have seen.
-
@-c-- Not yet. Stock Android on the Nexus 5X. I used Cyanogenmod on my old Nexus 5.
I will switch back to Lineage once Google's support for the 5X ends.
