@mohammed Damn you beat me! Was about to say that. Anyway, waiting for that cable porn!
-
Rohr7357yDoes not look good, but I have seen soooooooo much more worse things ... In comparison, this would be ok to be certified 😅
Just to be clear:
The mess I am talking about was not created by me ... 😶 -
bvader6117yIs it weird I actually enjoy cleaning up that kind of mess? I just did that to my home lab, spent half the day making custom length color coded CAT6 cables. Mmmm... Clean rack.

bvader6117y@Linux noise cancelling headphones, and one of those cooling gel neck bands. 😋 I could be in there for hours happily... Better than my current 9-5 anyway. I'm a mechanic, finishing up my degree though for programming.

Mizz14176287yMaybe use RAINBOW Colour Patch Cables?
Or more of Different colours?
Would make the Job a lot easier...
#NoHomo -
bvader6117y@IamGay6969 Red for critical systems (Production & Storage), Blue for infrastructure, Green for KVM, White for hot backups (Development), Black for my desktop. That's my color system for my home lab.

@Linux nice thinking, but please make sure to checkup on him every once and a while lol
-
@Linux I know whos services will be down for some time :p
You better be with him or your service will be down for real
Unless those are for company internal use then who cares -
Linux438107y@gitpush
I have not mentioned to him that we migrated all vservers to another location last week. I know he will fuck up and I WILL make him feel bad for an hour or two. This will be fun -
@Linux evil linux lol Linus must be disapointed with you :P
Just make sure he learns something out of it, in the end he is an intern and fixing cables isn't rocket science -
Linux438107y@gitpush
He will remember to be careful :) I will buy him food after the drama is over ;) -
@Linux have to be honest here, being careful is a lesson that only learned the hard way. new comers always tend to be fast and just focus on the task and not the lifespan of the task, for example in your case, how to arrange cables so that if new server is here it doesn't mess things up, or if a server needs replacement it can be easily done.
Can I join for food :p -
Linux438107y@gitpush
Agree completely :) Sometimes I learn the hard way too.
You are welcome to Sweden for some food if you want :P -
@Linux great wait for me, don't start until I'm there.
Warning: You may starve, no guarantees :3 -

Geography is one of my interest :)
Say any country, and I can almost find them within 2 seconds on a map
Today I am cleaning up this mess
