@QueenMorgana you can never have too much RAM, as far as I am concerned. β€οΈβ€οΈ
-
Archer045687y@harrizsb you need at least 64 GB of RAM and a SLI of GTX 1080Ti to run it at 720@30
-
. . . Not to be that guy. But it looks like one of the old HPs. Just not as thick.
-
@QueenMorgana I have a new hp, pretty good but not as good as this one, and I was pissed about it too.
-
Android Studio: Cool 32GB RAM, this is going to be fun!
Chrome: Time to test those RAMs
Enjoy your new laptop ^_^ -
@QueenMorgana I basically don't use mine. I have a dock with a dual monitor thing. Eventually it will become my multimedia computer. I figure that will be after we get married, I win the lottery, and I become president
-
@QueenMorgana maybe if one of those happened. Though if I really wanted it to happen I would buy a lotto ticket.
-
simo002m6167yWell it's nice that you have so much storage, but as for the OS, or maybe just in general, I would probably have went with an SSD, I didn't think it was soooo fast until I tried it.

Wandi937ymy old dell latitude E6430 with
8GB(2x4) DDR3 RAM,
256GB SSD
Win10
core i7 3540m
still runs like beast till now since first time buying it . guess i hasnt had any plans yet for upgrading. maybe i will look at dell latitude again for long tern use. hehehe -
Wandi937y@rantOverflow or budget wise. But if he had more budget to invest at CPU. Then go for intel. Or else amd, I'm on considering about using Ryzen 5 1500x to my pc right now. Since it's much cheaper than i5 6600k π
-
@ParkCity someone who uses virtual machines :). I wish I had more than 16 gigs so I can allocate more to the docker vm (because I'm on windows)
-
ardinent1147y... but ... but ... you’re running Windows tho. * Ducks and dives the imminent OS war *
I’ve gone through the “Can I move over to another machine?” exercise every year since I’ve started using Apple machines ( buying them second hand though ) and the answer is always no π€£ -
ardinent1147y@dontbeevil hehe.
I can however connect my Macbook to any screen, keyboard or mouse tho. -
Rather than respond individually...
15.6" screen
Intel graphics
I7 7500U 2.7
2-3 VM's
Jesus Christ only ran 16GB RAM
Africa doesn't need RAM -
mrblarg877yOk you've got VMs on it, I will stay the rant about there being such a thing as too much ram.
-
@irene yes but it's still cheaper than a MacBook with less than half the specs. This machine will last me for years.
-
@QueenMorgana seriously, I would expect every developer laptop to have 32GB today. I'm actually looking towards 64GB, but I guess I'm spoiled like that.
-
Shodan4987yMy usual comment when I see beastly big laptops in the "desktop replacement" class is along the lines of "doesn't seem like you're going to move that very often, a desktop computer would be better bang for your buck", but I keep forgetting that 15-inchers - the limit of portability to me - can carry this kind of hardware nowadays...
-
@rantOverflow docker for windows is based on a hyper-v vm with Linux on it. Here's an example. And what's wrong with running on laptops lol? I've only worked with laptops for the past years.
-
Am I the only one who's bothered by the fact that he didn't say which i7 and what type of RAM he has ?
-
PacRat39907y@Archer04 i hear minesweeper is pretty resource intensive

Mac Users: [ autistic screeching ]
Just got me an i7/32GB RAM/512GB NVMe (2GBPS) Zbook 15u G4 a few wwwks ago. It's awesome. -
Aaand Windows.
Behold, Windows updates are coming.
They'll be here soon, right when you're in the middle of something important. And there's nothing you could do about it.
*Evil background plays* -
@SmoothHacker longest I've had it unplugged so far is 3 hours and the battery was down to about 38%.
