    Lad, your contact network might be the most powerful tool in your set. Do not neglect or underdevelop it.

    I learned a lot while getting my MSc, but maybe what helped me the most was networking with uni types who are often eager and available to consult for very reasonable fees.
    I know nothing of defensive UX, and suddenly found myself in a project that depended on it for industrial apps.
    Luckily, an old drinking buddy of mine had just published a paper on defensive UX. Cue a scientifically recognized expert on call, advising us on relevant decisions.
