I've been fired today and somehow it was an relief :)
As I know that I am pretty much the only one who knows how the infrastructure works and I am the only one who actively tried to get the company to a better level of coding (tests, code reviews, proper deployment / continuous integration,...) It somehow feels like that gif.

So why would they fire you then?

Some companies just love the time of 1998 and don't want to change anything.

So by the gif, I'm guessing in response to being fired you blew up the building?

@Kryptic0 nope. Its more like the whole thing is gonna explode without me.

Well I was laid off. Not enough work since one of the companies biggest customers went off and I was responsible for their projects.

    99% chance you're better off

Sometime change is good, even though it's forced upon you by someone else. I hope it turns out good for you.

Best of luck in your endeavours.
Hope you find a company that values you.

@ardinent oh I am, even no job feels better than this one.

Also, since I was laid off 5 companies contacted me with a job offer.

Sometimes companies do want to change but think they know better because they know Word/Excel inside out. And then when you challenge them, they fire you.
