Solus is on what major Linux distro based?

Ps: Arch Linux and FreeBSD for life
  • 4
@eisterman Solus isn't really based on a distro- they use lots of standard programs but made their own.

I've found that most people who like that kind of interface weren't working on computers when it was the only available. I love clicks.

@Eariel why choose one over the other? I can type way faster than I can click... every modern OS has a desktop UI and a way to access the console. -shrug-

    Check out powershell on Windows😎

@MechAnimals, I use the command line a lot. But I'd rather click to an option than ctrl-alt-shift to it. The possibility of not having to remember all the combinations is gold.
  • 7
@Eariel and the option to not have to move my hands from the keyboard is heaven
  • 5
Thought it said solaris, and was a bit scared.

Solus is a nice distro. Like it.

Wondering when the debate between gui and terminal would arrise, i like gui its nice, easy to use and gets shit done just how a OS should be, were in 2017 Linux not 2000
  • 2
Congratulations buddy. Now you're initiated!!! Welcome to the real world. It sucks, but you're gonna love it.
  • 3
Yay welcome to the jungle, we've got fun and games

Ive never tried solus but I see a lot of people using it

@eariel haha, I'm in love with my keyboard and using i3 is love ivent had need for my trackball in a long time,

    @mrtnrdl it's like a OCD.
    CLI is a OCD

@jpichardo in my local VM i use i3 too! Such efficiently beauty

    Give KDE a try
  • 0
What exactly are we looking at there? What's neofetch?
  • 1
@ninjatini just displays what system your on and other details didn't wanna screenshot the whole desktop
  • 0
@Scrumplex that was going to be my second choice but apparently KDE is quite resource heavy
  • 0
@Kryptic0 it is actually less resource heavy than any gnome (3) based desktop (like budgie)
  • 1
@gruhn It literally took me several minutes to figure out why you're (and me) an idiot πŸ˜“. I'm tired mother of god.
  • 1
Also welcome to my world πŸ‘Œ
  • 0
@Kryptic0 ah, it's really cool looking.
  • 0
    @hardeepasrani NO YOUR AWESOME!
  • 2
@Eariel I think it's very task based. For example, I use Ctrl + alt + t to open a terminal, but the graphical close button to exit it. It's whatever I feel most comfortable with, not whichever I feel coolest doing.

    Budgie!!!!

As long as it is possible to pipe and compose programs, GUI can never replace terminal.

Unless we can build a drag and drop, wireable program builder. Collab idea?
