Continue to write embedded software to control industrial controls. I will watch the web world burn. That will be where it hits first. Safety concerns will arise. Jobs requiring verification of AI output will become common. Camps will exist of people who trust AI and those that don't. It will take a decade or 2 to decide if AI can even compete with well designed code. Companies will sell vapor ware based upon AI promises. Consumers will get burned. 30 years later we might get really intelligent systems. I will be dead or retired.
Oh, and I might be using something other than C++11 (C++98 embedded) in the next 10 years at my job. -
@Demolishun solid plan. I also feel optimistic & think we can leverage AI in our work. And if it does replace us we will find something else to do

Grumm17902y@aceaxelblaze Same as the 'robots' will take over all the labor in factories...
So people switched to become maintenance people to keep those robots running.
As dev it would work the same. You would still need humans to make that one AI.
Maybe one company needs a more specific AI too. -
We3D26522ythat is dependable on the current AI and other opportunities. just can't say before see some options 1st... but by then I'll probably live on my private island and will not give a fuck, or be a happy user of its servicies or directions on what shall I do next.js like many others... if you find someone who knows share his localhost to aks him/her/it/they... a few preguntas

Depends on how and when it happens. Maybe i just stop working altogether. I don't need much to live a happy life, so early retirement or basic income (if it gets implemented) might be an option.
At the end, technological innovation should make life easier for all people. And it sortof mostly did in the industrialized countries. So i hope that AI might be the final technical building block required to allow for a society where working is optional because while i am more a hedonist myself, there will always also be people who actually want to work. -
I'll probably learn metal welding and call it a day. Can be learned in a decent amount of time, nobody wants to do it, it's very much in request and paid a lot of money, which for me it's very important. Not because I actually need them, I'd probably throw it on some charity anyway, but to me it's important for that money to end in MY pocket and not in that of some HR, manager, feces officer or the hundred thousands of different kind of parasites currently infesting the workplace

I'm not sure it's the kind of environment where everything can be automated, but I'm definitely not 100% sure. If it is, I'll probably have to come up with something else but I got nothing as of right now.

@IHateForALiving Nah, this is stuff for factories and manufacturing new goods. Not field work. There might be machines for that, but they are nowhere near as versatile as a human.
-
if AI is taking _my_ job, then i accept that i suck and deserve it. then i'm gonna do something else.

Return to my home town, start using the land I own to grow crops, build diy smart autonomous crop-growing-supervisors powered by wind, solar and river generators, so I could monitor and control my fields and crops remotely
I enjoy nature, gardening, farming and IT. I guess I could spare ~5 years for something I enjoy :) -
Grumm17902y@IHateForALiving Sure it will.
If stuff like that will happen, people wouldn't ask for custom made ornaments. Everything will be mass produced, creativity will be destroyed by the AI.
We all will live in squared 3d printed houses with only the color as an option. -
Start a food truck, cant automate away having a human make you food by eyeballing and tasting and socialize.
(sure you can automate those individual steps, buts its never gonna be like how nona made it)
What are you gonna do if/when AI replaces developer/tech jobs. Not saying it'll happen but what if.
Me, I will open a convenience or drug store where I live..
